No smoke without a fire. The club probably thinks that they could do a job with Tierney and Kola.
Seems to me like they’re open to sell most of our players given the right fee comes in. Probably the case with Kos too but he wanted to go on a free.

Given he only has a year left and is unlikely to be extended again it feels like we should just keep him around. I’d rather have a player like him capable of filling a couple of roles and not needing him than the other way around.

Which other fullbacks have we got other than AMN and Kola? I’ve got no problem selling Monreal, just curious about who Kola’s back up would be. Genuine question – I’ve not been following the youth team that closely recently, any decent ones coming through?
Why can’t we sell him in January? When Tierney has actually been in the side and we have an indication of his fitness level. Selling Monreal without proper backup for Kola makes no sense IMO. We’ve got Premier League, Carabang Cup and Europa League.

Please don’t return us to the old habit… sell before getting a replacement (or there is no replacement).
Monreal is still capable as a solid backup/rotation, and we need him now.
Selling him for an insignificant fee is not going to help us at all.
We need a player more than some peanuts right ATM.

We’ve got 3 left backs, something we definitely don’t need. So this is certainly far from being a “sell before getting a replacement” situation.
Monreal is shot to pieces and I won’t let his reasonable performances against the two of the least offensively daunting teams in the league (Newcastle and Burnley) change my mind on him.
He’s going to get eaten alive by any decent winger this season.
