I am not biting
Some comment(s) above about others being delusional if they think Elneny isnāt a boon for squad depth. Iām realistic enough to know when Iām on the side of an opinion in a losing battle here, but obviously I would like him upgraded, but Iāll say if it comes to next Feb/Mar, and if we have multiple competitions to juggle and/or squad injuries to manage, as happened multiple times under Arsene Wenger, and people are cursing Elneny for being inadequate, Iāll of course be pointing out who was delusional when it came to understanding the quality in depth required for what people actually want, in terms of where they want this club to get to.
I also feel like heās being asked to do something slightly different than what he did before. But maybe thatās down to Xhaka changing his game a little bit as well.
supposedly has just signed until 2025ā¦dunno how true that is.
You would be wrong to do that. No Arsenal fan will say no if offered a better quality backup.
If you ask everyone in this forum if they would take a better player than Elneny as a backup, everyone will say yes. No one is delusional when it comes to understanding the quality in depth required.
You are delusional about the level of work we have ahead in the coming summer.
Why are you unable to understand the argument for prioritising other positions in the squad?
It just doesnāt seem sensible to focus on bringing a higher quality backup when we already have 4-5 positions that need urgent improvement. Budget wise & Effort wise, it wonāt be wise to pursue this.
This isnāt actually true. A lot of people above are saying a club would be lucky to have pros like Elneny and Holding filling in when required (Iām ok with Holding btw, just to be clear). In essence they are now sort of risk averse to replacing Elneny for some sort of fear maybe about squad spirit and cohesiveness. Iām saying the demands on such fill-ins goes closer to rotation when we are juggling multiple tournaments, including European football, and I donāt think some have fully gotten their minds around that yet.
Regarding number of summer signings, whether it is 4, 5, or 6, that is a weak argument. If you want to play financier for Arsenal thatās another matter, although all can be done for around 120-140m net, which is fine as long as we qualify for CL.
We can sort it right away.
If you can have one of below as backup midfielder, who would you rather have?
- Elneny
- Camavinga

You are delusional if you think we are buying two strikers, two midfielders, one winger, two fullbacks for mere 120m
Firstly please take tyour tone down a notch, I think Iāve made it clear in here I donāt enjoy unnecessary aggro in an Internet forum when I have more important things to save my energy for.
Secondly, for some of these signings I envisage free transfers or players with one year left on their contract, so a bit cut price. For CM we can go Tielemans, but for the other one, the player who is more part of a solid base there are players on the market like Gini Wijnaldum.
Edit: Thirdly, I said net spend, i.e. the final amount after incomings for sales are included.
How is my approach any different than you?
Anyway, we can have a civil conversation for sure. I will give adjectives some rest.
Sure there are and as I said if the club manages to do it, no Arsenal fan will burn their fake made in Malaysia jerseys.
But at this moment, if we are discussing within us, the sensible discussion would be focusing on vacant spots than the spots that are adequately filled
Apart from 30m for Pepe, I donāt see any avenue for generating revenue off player sales
Read my original comment again, the one youāve taken one line out from. I was responding to someone else talking about one point of view being delusional. Neither that person or myself were directing at anyone specific, we were saying a viewpoint could be characterized as delusional. You are directly going after me with bile, repeatedly, so that is very different.
I just hate wasting time and energy like this. After me explaining this to you are you happy that you didnāt read my comment properly and took it out of context in the way you did? I just canāt do this. It just gives me headaches because⦠letās leave it there. Iām out for now, have to focus on other stuff.
Have a good day man
He certainly wouldnāt be a backup midfielder at Arsenal mind you.
If I were to play the role of a faux ambitious fan, I would say we should bring the quality of the squad to a level where players like Camavinga become backup midfielders for us
Camavinga is a special talent where age is the only genuine reason he isnāt a fully fledged starting midfielder for Real Madrid. Next season I totally believe heāll be the undisputed first choice in that midfield
Heās not the quality of backup we should be aspiring for because his quality is generational in his position
Him and Bellingham both look ridiculously gifted
I hear you but if we have any ambition of winning PL & CL, we should buy Verrati & De Jong to play with Partey and have Odegaard, Bellingham & Camavinga as backups.
I donāt see how we canāt aim for greater squad quality.
Throw in some Pedri as well
We need to earn the ability to have back up quality like that.
Look at Odegaard, he didnāt even want to be back up for Real Madrid. So itās not even likely that players of that quality are happy to be back up.
Man City have nailed the balance between quality starters and quality back up.
You to me are everything, my curly haired Egyptian king, Elneny!
Has that taken off at the Emirates yet?
Thatās fantastic.
Deadwood Wenger player that everyone wanted rid of until he came into the starting xi and saved the season lmaooooo ![]()
