Mesut Özil

Or maybe he doesn’t fit into the tactics.
Still, that could be a reason he’s not starting but the guy can’t even make it into the squad.

Given how many leaks the club has by the way we would have known if there was a bust-up at the training ground or if Ozil wasn’t working hard enough.

And regarding him not being good enough, I won’t even entertain that idea given some of our other options.

At this point I think it must be a decision by the higher ups. Either it’s bonus related or Ozil being too much of a controversial figure for Arsenal.

But as I said, all these are conspiracy theories…

Sell him, pay him off to fuck off, do it.
Sick of seeing people here bashing him for “not trying”, “not working hard enough”…
IF talk about not fitting into tactics, looks like Willian is a specialist of counter attacking…

Per did not say much, but he is man enough to come out and say something, his usage of words were positive. Unlike the cunt manager hiding behind the owner/board/whoever.

Why doesn’t Ozil voice his opinion. Not exactly shy at doing these things is he.

now it is his fault for not speaking up?

Trying to be rebellion, his fault.
Trying to do some charity work, his fault.
Trying to be a little lamb and keep his mouth shut, his fault.
Not accepting a transfer (why does he have to?), his fault.
Insist of staying, his fault.

Why are you taking it personally haha

My personality???

Did you miss the The Athletic piece?
He implied that he is not playing for non-football reasons and that some are trying to damage his image(regarding the leaks about him not accepting the pay cut).

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:.

Fair enough ish. Club need too get it sorted because it’s a mess now.
Still think we solve this by loaning him into the championship. Guess that boats sailed.

There are a lot of ppl with an agenda against Özil but it’s becoming more and more obvious that he is being frozen out for non football reasons. Özil is on the record as to why, Per has confirmed it. Arteta is a snake and if his classless interactions with countless others at the club aren’t a sign I dunno what is. Our club are absolutely inept at handling themselves like a big club and Arteta is only compounding the issue with his idiotic behavior what a fucking clown lmao

We’ve got some difficult games coming up against clubs that are all going for a top six place.
Our next game is against Leicester, who have several injuries to first team players so we should beat them and then our next two games are away to Man U and then at home to Aston Villa.

It’s absolutely obvious that we have no creativity in midfield and, even worse, have ignored this fact for the last few transfer windows unless Arteta thought Willian was the answer to all our midfield problems.

We have Ozil who is one of the best play makers in the PL, who can’t get on the bench so, if the next few games are thrown away because we can’t provide our forward players with goal scoring opportunities, then Arteta is going to have to answer some questions about his stubbornness in not picking him.

We haven’t had a single game where we have outplayed the opposition, apart from the first game against Fulham, and the problem is there for all to see.

Arteta should pick the best players, play them in their best positions and stop trying to be so clever and over complicating things.

The way the club has handled this whole Ozil saga just proves that they really are clueless because we’re paying more than 15m a season for a player to drift around the club doing nothing.

If Arteta thinks Ozil is worse than all our other midfield options, he’s an idiot.
If it’s for other reasons then the supporters, who pay the wages of both Arteta and Ozil, deserve to know why.

Desperately missing the 4 assists he’s provided us in his last 2 premier league seasons. I think it’s 4 in 42 games lol

I don’t understand the length some people go to defend Ozil. It’s pretty obvious from what we see over the years that he has got some attitude problems.

Mourinho at Real Madrid called Ozil a “baby” and a “coward”. Now I don’t think that is good coaching nor managing, but it says something about Ozil when he gets this label not just from Mourinho, but from many people he has worked with, including a segment of our and other fans.

It really is no coincidence that the German NT fell out with him, Mourinho fell out with him, Unai fell out with him, Arteta and now the entire board fell out with him.

He didn’t fall out with Wenger, because Wenger saw Ozil as his precious pet project and treated him with special care.

It’s pretty certain at this point Ozil isn’t left out for football reasons, but for a whole slew of other reasons and this situation is irreversible. Ozil must go, the sooner the better.

It’s a pity as his footballing ability and talent are rare and special. Unfortunately he lacks the character to have become a true legend.

Yes I’m aware of his stats but I still say going by the eye test he’s better than our current creative options and should be on the bench at a minimum and used in the right situations.

If our attacking fluency currently had a any resemblance of a side looking half decent then I might not be saying this, but sadly we’re bereft of ideas.

I love this game

I’m aware of our creativity issues and at this stage I’d rather see Ozil get a run out than some of the ridiculous decisions Arteta seems to be making but ultimately I don’t think bringing him back makes much difference at all.

We’ve been shit for years now and he’s been a focal point of our team in that time so bringing an even older Ozil back into the fold into an unfamiliar formation which doesn’t facilitate for number 10s isn’t exactly a recipe for success.

We can agree it’s not an ideal solution, I’m not saying for a second that Ozil is anywhere near the player he once was.

Which can be easily done by paying 18 or so millions to Ozil.

No way we’re paying Ozil out of his contract just so that Arteta doesn’t get the Ozil questions in his conferences.

Btw, @shamrockgooner called it months ago.
Thought that was a bit extreme but fucking hell, it actually happened.
