Mesut Özil

Özil isn’t the same player anymore.

It took me a while to realise this myself but let him go lads. He’s not the player we signed

There is always noise or speculation but silence says everything here. He is seen as a busted flush. Simple as.
Feel free to carry on the delusion that hes viewed as a worldy. Carry on with the agenda of a run of games scenario. When that fails just rotate to the not set up right or not enough quality around him.
Your choice but just like the Wilshire hope with some think your going to be let down. He is done here now.

Sure. :ok_hand:

I think it is a reasonable position to hold that Ozil just isn’t in demand honestly… his wages and the evolving tactical game and his performances and fitness just don’t fit as much the modern game for lots of teams… yes of course there could be lots of things happening in the background, but does anyone seriously believe we would even get 25 million for this WC player?

He doesn’t even seem like someone the manager wants (merits notwithstanding), yet none of us really believe he will be gone this summer… Occam’s Razor at work here.

The game has moved on from his type of player imo

Everyone who slams Emery for sidelining him seems to ignore this point. Quite a number of managers out there wouldn’t want him in their side, especially considering his wages now (which is our fault, not his).

Agree. The days of technical ability being a players only strenght is gone at the top level. Pace, power and grit are the new black.

I agree Ozil isn’t the same player, but he wouldn’t look as bad as he is under a different manager. He’s done as far as being elite level footballer though.

It’s an interesting debate though as Emery isn’t ever going to be an elite level manager either.

You can have all that and skill as well. Two hardest working sides in the Prem are city and Liverpool. enough skillful players their to suggest its not all workhorse football.

How the fuck do you know that Nostradamus?!! You know nothing sit down ‘liverpool will win the league’ you cant see into the future!

He’s not gonna ever be an elite manager. This is common sense really

Henderson, Milner, Fabinho. Thats porridge right there. Pure porridge.

In 15 years of management Emery has never done anything to suggest he’s elite, that’s a large enough sample size to suggest it’ll never happen.

I dunno about that i have a funny feeling if we let him have time he will be quite decent and people will be eating their words!

Allegri is elite. Would swap Emery for him in a minute

Front three arent though and cover plenty of ground. Balance is the key to all good sides.

2 weeks ago people were calling him a fraud because his season was shit for the squad he has

I wouldn’t take it too literal though, every manager on OA has been called a fraud at some point :arteta:

Not from me

I’d have Allegri and Conte around 5th & 6th in the world in terms of best managers.
