Martin Zubimendi (36)

He repeated this mistake is what’s annoying me

It was it was his worst performance, but honestly speaking how many really good performances has he actually had in recent months?

He is being played far too much we can all see it.
But of course the guys in control can’t seem to act on that.

Apparently he wants to play every game. Dude basically cried one time he got subbed early.

Then show the staff and team on the pitch. He needs to be on the bench for the next few

I agree it is likely that.

He needs to fuck off.

He’s not good enough that he can be throwing strops.

Consider it a dropping for being shit lately.

Still raging with that mistake. He gets the first year to find his feet in the league but fuck me, today was so needless.

I get that but he’s been a footballer for a very long time. To make such a schoolboy error when you come from a country which derives on passing, passing and passing. It was such a poor executed pass, leaning back with no intent or care. Really poor stuff. First with Gabriel and now Zumbimendi.

Up there with Rodri they said. Best #6 in football.

Lmaoooo

Yeah that wasn’t great there.

Stupid pass with two United forwards nearby. Though has to be said Saliba sold him short too. Should’ve booted it upfield rather than passing to Zubi in a 2 v 2 scenario.

I said it before, a freak moment can happen to literally anyone once, but how many times this season have we seen him losing the ball in critical positions, just in front of our box?

Yeah, his first year, I expect him to improve… tbf when you go back to Raya and his first 6 months here he has so many blunders I thought we got it horribly wrong, but then settled. Gabriel had his moments too a few years ago… I guess it’s just not easy to play for us in those deeper positions considering how much risk we take there and how much we want to draw the opponent higher up the pitch and don’t just hoof the ball.

Zubi isn’t that bad there and I do expect him to get better, but simply hasn’t been nowhere near as good as it’s being promoted so often. Has to improve in terms of being a key part in our build up and control of midfield.

Now thinking about our game, from a bigger perspective, it’s quite frustrating to see why are we so open to take that much risk around our own goal and want to gain the advantage the by drawing the opponent and breaking through him there, withouth really gaining much by that in terms of creation… while we don’t want to take too much risk when we get high up the pitch, on front of the opponent goal. We don’t want to break our structure with some unorthodox movements. We’re just keeping our rigid structure, every player is just holding onto his “default zone” the whole time, we cross the ball relentlessly from the wide positions and don’t want to leave some positions on order to prevent the counter attacks etc.

We aren’t taking enough risk there, by commiting more players into a certain zone to create an overload there (while we love to do that in the deeper zones) and stuff like that.

I think he’s better in the final third than he is in our half. I’m not that impressed by his defensive awareness and his passing isn’t really opening up teams.

He still isnt used to the pace of the league, 4 mistakes of the same kind is so careless and negligent, He needs to wake up

What are we even doing here?

Szobo scored an absolute worldie of a FK from quite the distance, his first for Liverpool no less.
The foul that led to Ballard’s goal was in Sunderland’s half(and was quite soft if I recall correctly), quite a lot did happen to lead to that to really put that on Zubimendi.

Last two fair play but even the Richarlison goal, pigeon twat absolute nailed that shot from distance. Let him try 1000 times, he’d miss 999 of them.

So much shade being thrown at my guy! :frowning:

He’s an exceptional player and has improved our team, and he’s better than Partey!

See, I’ll defend you on Zubimendi but at the same token, you did the same with Partey and you’re still doing it.

Partey was a world-class #6 when fit. Gave prime Rodri(who then went on to win Ballon d’Or)
a run for his money in 22/23.

I agree, and at the time we signed him, I was fully behind the transfer and was one of the few that believed it was going to happen on deadline day. Partey was prone to errors, but the biggest issue was his fitness and his availability.

Maybe he is offensively, but as a #6 he is an entire tier below Partey.

Fouling the opposition in dangerous areas and unforced errors leading to goals, is not the sign of an intelligent player.

I expected more for him given the £60m.
