Partey is better.
Can’t remember the last time he dominated a midfield battle. He is a mistake prone player who also has had way too many games where the midfield looks poor he’s a big part of that
Has anybody told him that we haven’t won a title for two decades. We aren’t on the beach.
I said I’ve been pleasantly surprised with his final third contribution so far, but as a pure (central) midfielder he’s a whole level below Partey. It’s beyond obvious.
You just don’t see his presence much when we start our attacks, seeing him making some key moves in evading press in key positions and progressing us, making some key passes and plays… As Partey did regularly. Actually even Rice seems to do that more and he’s no specialist there.
He’s nowhere near Partey as a playmaker. Tidy, busy, works hard…. Again, overall decent for his first year, but I’m I’m not impressed with him as pivotal part of our midfield play yet.
It’s very easy against Levante and Girona at a game played at a snails pace
Not to be alarmist but if we’re down on this guy then the transfer window we had needs a serious conversation. Because he’s the best of the batch.
The window has been largely hopeless.
At making mistakes…I agree! ![]()
Definitely not reactionary lads. ![]()
Partey being better was always the truth ![]()
I’ve been saying the same thing the whole season.
He was getting way too much praise because of some odd goal here and there, but as a midfielder he’s a clear and obvious downgrade on Partey.
It was shocking to read some comments how he’s an upgrade.
I do think these mistakes should highlight how harsh some people (tbf, not many here) were when Partey made them.
I think if anyone thought that was a Partey problem, then they need to rethink how tough being a top team’s DLP nowadays is.
Partey not even close to Zubi in terms of quality. Very easy in the heat of the moment to make claims like this.
The Partey issue was obviously non football things. Excellent player but prone to a lapse of concentration/mistakes himself.
That being said, an important point…
Partey had a similar mistake in him, but far less frequently, while he was generally a far more positive player, risk prone, who was progressing us way more than Zubi.
Zubi makes more of these mistakes while taking way less risk and bringing way less in creation/progression. That says a lot when comparing them.
Aside that Bilbao game, in PRESEASON, I have never for once been impressed with Zubi as a playmaker.
Mosquera elevated to top spot ![]()
Mr Zubimendi, your chickens have come home to roost.
His mistake for the first goal aside he was diabolical for the second goal too like completely outplayed by Dorgu.
Easily his worst performance for us.
Can’t believe the magnitude of that mistake.
Was worse than Tomiyasu’s vs City.
