Martin Ødegaard (c) (8)

Oh fuck off with the loan signings

I wonder if it is with an obligation to buy or option to. Honestly if it’s the latter then I think that works out better for us as it means we can spend the money on someone like Maddison, which I still kind of feel might happen.

I really hope this happens and we get Maddison as well.
If White and Odegaard are our marquee signings, we could easily finish mid table again.

They aren’t good enough to make a difference to our attack, which is clearly where we’re lacking quality but Maddison is at least something different.

Why another loan ffs

Idk why but I’m just so wary of spending 70m on Maddison. He’s very talented but I’ve come around to the idea that we really need a striker more.

Tbh, I prefer a loan deal rather than a permanent one for Odegaard right now, as he’ll definitely add something to our team and stop us from slipping down further, but I’m not yet convinced he’s worth the money we’ll need to spend to get him permanently. Let’s watch him for a year more and then we can decide from there.

Maybe it’ll be a loan with permabuy

No issue with a loan with an option or obligation to buy. It can be useful if we shift the accounting to next summer and direct resources to others now

Either way we’re getting a top talent on a good deal. No chance he renews at Madrid next summer with one year left

I see Odegaard is trending at the top of the Yahoo news stories.

Nah mate, I’ve seen him a year over here at Vitesse (of course, totally different level but this was three seasons ago), he was great! He ran the show at Sociedad, and in my opinion he has already shown to make us a better team last year.

If he has a great year at Arsenal, which I believe he will have, the 50 million price tag will be even higher.

We get a player to stop us from slipping down, not to help us to get higher …

This is how far we have fallen

If Ødegaard arrives on a further loan (with a mooted £30m first option next summer) then that’s a very good deal for us. May mean the difference between a new RB and Chambers all season.

The difference is, Chambers is not a RB. :grinning:

I don’t agree with a re-loan because we are supposed to be building our squad long term with players we are developing for ourselves, not potentially for other clubs. That said, I think Edu and Arteta have probably given up and are looking for a cheap route as Real Madrid don’t want to let the player go without a buyback clause.

Long term with Arteta’s players? I think a loan is what we should be looking for cause if Arteta doesn’t last the winter, we don’t want another bunch of players that the next manager doesn’t fancy.

Winter???

Feck me, I’m hoping he won’t last the weekend, ffs…

Forecast is bad tbh mate.

All this effort over a player we had for 6 months before. I’m tired Robbie.

Dani Ceballos, Ødegaard, and Partey were our 3 best midfielders last season. Two of the three of those guys are Madrid players, it’s so incredibly sad I can’t even begin to describe it lol.
