Well, we do have an official Madridista around here. We should ask him.
Get out from under the woodwork @GC-Maniac my friend. We require your double sad opinion on this matter.
Just play Odegaard deeper in midfield, as he still serves value in the build-up phase. Where his value diminishes is in the box. Can’t score and rarely assists
It’s where he was always best.
Give Rice or zubi a rest ffs.
For one reason or another he’s become nerfed
Been nasty to watch his transformation into this pressing mid who dawdles on the ball, is a fading force in front of goal and creatively he’s dropped off too.
The personality on the pitch has dwindled with each passing season, I think he’s probably peaked at least under Arteta anyway.
Stealth patch with no notes.
Knew they always had it in for us.
I couldn’t watch beyond the first minute of that first video cause my blood pressure was rising ![]()
For me, there is no debating he’s lost something physically. Apart from his weak ass shots, he seems to get pushed off the ball a lot more easily now than before. I may be wrong but that’s what I have noticed when I see him play. He can no longer take care of the ball when challenged.
Anyway, I think our whole attack needs some fresh ideas. Mikel has to be willing to let go of some control and be a bit more adventurous. Not sure he’ll do that cause he loves having control. But he needs to tweak things for our two most creative players (Ode and Eze) to express themselves.
Current Madrid would will for someone like Odegaard tbh.
What for? Bellingham and Guler are better. Rodrygo is probably more effective as well.
Odegaard is a hard worker. A very hard worker, with a good touch. Used to think he’s was top 3 in the league with KDB and Bruno. I’d put him behind Palmer, Bruno, Rogers, Foden and even Sbozolai. It’s bad enough that I’d put him as third choice at Arsenal. Eze and Merino can’t match his work rate but both offer significantly more goal threat.
Sure they would, let’s just wait and see what the fee they offer is. I reckon it’ll be massive.
I do agree with you. Eze has shown glimpses of quality but needs to be more consistent. I’m not sure he has taken the opportunities he has been given yet. I think Odegaard though really needs to re-establish himself during the second half of this season. I think the biggest issue he needs to address, is to shoot more often. His decision-making when it comes to shooting, is awful.
He’s too old for Madrid to pay a fee for him now. The rumour is that they want Wharton.
He’s not good enough for Madrid. Who does he displace in their team?
Wharton?
Do you realise how awful Madrid’s midfield is? They probably have the worst midfield out of all the big clubs in the world currently. It’s completely unbalanced.
Camavinga is injury prone, Ceballos is shit, Tchouameni’s meh, same for Brahim, Guler is poor physically and off the ball(plus he’s not proving to be all that on the ball) and Valverde has looked better at RB and RW. Bellingham’s the only top midfielder but he’s best used the higher up the pitch.
Ultimately, Madrid fucked up big time not signing Zubimendi in the summer.
Yes but we have him.
I presume you’re happy and sad at the same time?
Valverde, Bellingham and Camavinga are on a different level to Odegaard. Wharton would be a good option to have for them to rotate with Camavinga.
Arsenal comes first…having said that when Arsenal are done with him a Madrid stint wouldn’t be too bad. ![]()
He’d be be a good signing for Atletico.
Only Bellingham currently really. Valverde hasn’t faired particularly well in midfield the past two seasons, he does better out wide. Maybe that would change with better partners.
Camavinga should’ve been on that level but he’s had various fitness issues, as a reuslt he’s been in and out of side quite a bit and he hasn’t found consistency.
Yeah, Simeone would love his pressing. He’s a typical Simeone defensive attacking midfielder
