Martin Ødegaard (c) (8)

The most dominant we’ve looked was playing a 4-2-3-1 with Merino upfront and Eze in the 10.

I think that should be our primary formation until Ødegaard can step it up a gear.

Can I just say, this guy is as useful as an elephant in a mine field.

What the fuck has happened to him.

Not captain material in the slightest. Think he needs to be replaced next summer tbh.

Terrible. Let’s just play Merino in the ten and make Rice captain.

He’s been in terrible form for a long time now.

He has half a season to prove he belongs in this team. It’s not looking good.

You guys have to be taking the piss now because the alternative(Eze) has been dog shit since Spurs, and unimpressive before that too but I haven’t seen you knock him like you knock Odegaard.

They’re both struggling if we’re keeping it real. Eze is a bit of a golden boy since so much hope was put on the signing people’s exhaustion with Odegaard is (Somewhat unfairly) being reignited.

Odegaard is our captain. Eze has provided genuine point winning moments. Eze needing to be better does not excuse the crap that Odegaard has been serving up for a year and a half.

@Starboy come defend your boy, I ain’t gonna do it alone.

I already read the posts and thought I just cba. Don’t know what they watched today to give that reaction, one misplaced pass near the end cos Saka moved the other direction and that’s it.

Thought he was fine, decent bundle through and shot in the box and usual ball recycling while often finding people out wide.

Same characters always stroll in with the ‘not my captain’ bollocks but then they want players like Marcus trashford so there we have it.

He sticks that attempt the other side of the post and the game goes an entirely different direction too. He’s doing ok since he returned but a little more would be nice. Soon.

He was fine when he came on and certainly had more than what Eze offered, as was the case on the weekend. He hasn’t been brilliant but he’s just come back, and the alternative to him is another player who has been performing poorly recently. I understand that until we get 2023 Martin Odegaard again people are going to be losing it with him on a constant basis, but the criticism in these last two matches seems way over the top.

PL + CL + League Cup

Player Appearances Minutes Goals Assists G/A per 90
Trossard 18 1029 6 5 0.96
Martinelli 18 779 6 1 0.81
Eze 21 1350 5 4 0.6
Saka 21 1432 7 2 0.57
Merino 23 1355 5 3 0.53
Gyokeres 19 1277 6 1 0.49
Madueke 12 642 3 0 0.42
Rice 23 1747 2 5 0.36
Odegaard 13 627 0 2 0.29

It’s not like the eye test tells a different story. What has to happen for people to admit he is fucking shit.

That is very damning.

What that he’s operating at broadly the same ratio as rice despite being out injured on 3 occasions this season?

Desperate.

It was the Ozone. NOw, it’s the Bermuda Triangle - our so called captain goes missing.

Do something at the Etihad, Martin and maybe I’ll look at you differently. Until then, you aren’t built for this. If/when we win this league, I’ll be looking at our defenders, Rice, Zubi, Saka even Trossard way before I see our captain as a vital component.

Not my captain.

What happened to this guy? The first couple of seasons he was great but something is off….is he still injured? He just doesn’t seem the same, please don’t say that RM were right about him and he is somewhat flakey. I really want to see him back to his best, but it never seems to be coming.

Real Madrid was right about him.
