I do think that as they play together more and more, Gyokeres will learn to anticipate this kind of pass and be on the end of it.

Its fair to say that he may need more time to adapt to his teammates but it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Odegaard - who rarely shoots on this right foot and is generally looking for these kinds of through balls when around the box - made this pass. Eze is making a run thinking that a pass might come. Why can’t Gyokeres see that?
All of it may just take time. But for Gyokeres to really be a success this is the kind of ball he is going to need to anticipate and get on the end of. “Getting service” doesn’t mean doing nothing and your teammates just presenting you with chances. Defenses are too good at PL level.
I’d expect a number 9 to be on their toes in that situation. Gyokeres is on his heels and despite have a yard head start, he gets beaten to the ball by Konate.

To be honest though Odegaard doesn’t try that kind of thing often, I’d more expect him to take too many touches especially off of his right but with that said you don’t lose much by gambling regardless
I think Gyokeres was trying to be onside there and hence couldn’t react to it quick enough.

Let’s hope that extends to more crucial areas in his attributes.
I hated his floppy hairdo, him running his fingers through it everytime he makes a pass or gives an instruction to a teammate. Hopefully it’ll make his head more aerodynamic so that he can start running at players again.
