They somehow can’t spot the contradiction between demanding that United return to winning ways again, but that in doing so they also must win ‘the right way’. That club would be so much more dangerous if they just took a winning at all costs approach but they just can’t bring themselves to do it, it has to be done perfectly to their liking which effectively means recreating a dead era again and that won’t happen. Long may their blind clinging on to the past continue…

I think Neville is right in a sense - they’ve clearly messed around far too much but it’s moreso down to the recruitment process and decision on the subject (manager) that has been the problem for them.
Roll it back to what a lot of us say when the likes of Ten Hag were sacked - they should have stuck with Louis van Gaal and used that platform as their rebuild era. Instead, they’ve started it and it’s never ended for them. They’ve chased the younger talents on the continent because everyone else is doing it and paid extortionate amounts of money in the process. Some of those guys aren’t even with them anymore. They’ve gone the netball route and it’s flat lined.
I personally think Simeone would be a very good shout for them. In this current situation, throw everything at Conte and extract what you can for 2-3 seasons.

They gave him hardly any money for transfers when it was obvious to everyone, except their supporters, that the team needed an overhaul.

Before they decide on any manager they have to look at their background and facilities.
Ronaldo roasted them on Piers Morgan a few years ago and I bet under al eech like Ratcliffe it’s only gotten worse.
Get a new training ground, stadium that doesn’t leak poo.
Some dinner ladies. A kit man. Infrastructure. Right now any serious player or coach will come and think the place is a hellhole and phone in from the beginning.
They are truly not a serious club and are closer to a relegation than the title.

This is where moving to Emirates start making sense.
United, despite their success in 00s, is now suffering from an institutional decay because they didn’t upgrade their infrastructure.
Arsenal, on the other hand, could have done things better & achieved more but it is definitely in a place where players would enjoy joining the club not just for what Arteta is doing with the squad but also to be associated with a luxurious London club.

He lost it at the end of his first tenure but they havent had a better league season than the 20/21 covid year when he got them 2nd
The quality of the squad has gone down but in terms of profiles they have the players to replicate what Ole did when they were at their best under him in 20-21.
