He was arrested for a public order offence, you don’t know which one because it hasn’t been announced. If you have nothing else to add you should stop typing.
Already told you. Don’t get why you are inventing stuff or acting like you have knowledge you don’t.
Are there any sources saying he got arrested under the malicious communications act? I’ve quickly read 5 articles this morning and none of them mention this at all.
Not even saying that you’re wrong, I just want to see something, anything, that backs up what you’ve said here, as I’d like to better understand how this man came to be arrested, as I’m not sure I really agree that he should have been.
He was arrested for a public offence order. That has literally been confirmed. The legislation for this has been posted on Twitter, or you can find the whole thing online yourself. But this is the page in question.
Absolutely disgusting he was arrested for wearing a printed shirt.
What about when the tossers who wear tee shirts with ‘death to the royals’ on them prance about and get interviewed on TV with no comeback. Surely thats hate too?
Well, to some extent, that is the underlying idea of free speech.
We all draw lines somewhere though, of course. Like most people would agree that inciting violence is not an acceptable use of freedom of speech or freedom of expression. But this isn’t inciting people to violence, or encouraging anyone to commit any sort of crime, it’s an incredibly distasteful statement about a tragedy in which people their lives.
Personally, I think a lifetime ban from Wembley, with Manchester United following suit, would be a perfectly appropriate punishment and response. I’m not entirely convinced his shirt should be a matter for the law.
yes when it comes to ideas and opinions… and lawmakers (I guess dep. on country) usually draw the line when they start to conflict with other laws. wanting private people dead because they support a football club is probs enough there. not sure he needs to go to jail tho, it’s obv. poor taste banter imo.
Yeah, I’m sure it goes no further than being nicked, maybe cautioned. So I’m obviously not too concerned. And also, fuck this cunt anyway, I don’t wosh him well.
But for me, it’s a bit like the republicans who got arrested around the coronation. They may have only been arrested, possibly cautioned, but I don’t think it was fitting for the police to even go that far.
Obviously being anti monarchy is an entirely valid political position, whereas this is something else entirely, I’m not saying they’re equivalents. I’m just making the point that it only being an arrest or caution, and nothing more, doesn’t mean that I think it’s necessary or ok for the police to taking action in the first place.
In some cases it’s more a safety thing though. Police just get involved to temporarily remove people from antagonising situations, as they have the power to do that unlike Pat from the cafe.
I understand that, I just don’t think that makes it ok in mst circumstances. Like I said not long ago, when it was the coronation, if republicans protesting jeopardises their safety due to monarchists getting upset and subsequently violent, you provide police protection to the people protesting who might be in danger of facing violence, you don’t arrest them. It’s arse backwards.
Anyway, in this instance, I don’t believe that a Man U fan wearing a vile shirt about Liverpool fans presents a risk to anybody’s safety at a Manchester City vs Manchester United match.
