They raised the floor a lot having a good manager and bringing Casemiro and Eriksen into midfield while replacing Maguire with Martinez and whoever was playing RW last year with an actual right winger in Antony.
I don’t think the ceiling is really that high. I don’t see any of their front three ever being a truly top top player and they’ve built the current team around a central spine of Casemiro, Eriksen, Varane, Bruno, De Gea in the 29-31 age range that within the next couple years will likely need replacing.
Still not overly convinced by them but have to say Antony looks immense, which I suppose he should considering he cost them close to 100m.
As others have said, they still have some major holes in their squad and plenty of players who will need to be replaced in the next couple of years. They could be looking at 6 or 7 necessary additions just to field a decent starting 11. Martinez, Sancho, Antony, Rashford and then every other spot is really questionable going forward due to either age or quality.
Whereas if you look at us, we have Saliba, Tomi, Tierney, Zinchenko, all 3 Gabriels, Saka, Vieira, Odegaard, White, Ramsdale who could all be around for another 5 years easily.
They are starting to find a path out of the mess but it’ll take a while yet.
We are on our own trajectory at the moment and it’s took a few seasons and positive as it feels right now, we have no rewards yet.
Even if United win, the circus surrounding Ronaldo is a constant distraction. Fucker is 38 in February but he still thinks he runs the game. Everything he does makes headlines and that is toxic for a dressing room.
Whilst they are finding some cohesion under ten Hag, I don’t think their ceiling is above 75 points.
They’ll be hunting down 4th but that’s their limit this season.
Our ceiling should be 80+, injuries permitting. And given our start, we shouldn’t be looking downwards anyway.
I think they will get Top 4, this season. Barring some massive injuries. Spurs I think are going to struggle for top 4 this season. Conte been found out and their squad is not that special.
I always hated ManU as much as Spurs - because some manu friends gave me a hard time when Arsenal was down the gutter
However, with Ten Hag there I am interested in seeing how they do. Ten Hag is really that special guy. You don’t do with Ajax what he did, not one season, but many seasons he kept them playing fantastically despite Ajax’s limited budget and players gone every season, they were consistently punching above their weight.
Now he is gone, and Ajax is back to where it was before Ten Hag. Mediocre.
They won’t get top 4 this season. The League is to competitive and their problems are too many
Be surprised if that was the target tbh.
Spurs could fall out the four but Liverpool would be the more likely candidate IMO.
I hope United don’t get Top 4, it will hurt them. Spurs will hurt themselves and it won’t be long till Kane, Song and Conte leave.
If United spend another year in Europa, they are going to struggle to grow as a club - they don’t have many good young players and the likes of Varane and Casemeiro will go into a semi retirement.
Looking at Spurs, they’re missing Kulusevski and Richarlison. That’s their first choice RW and their backup forward across their front 3. Our equivalent is losing Saka and probably ESR (who we’ve already had to do without this season).
Those 2 guys being injured for Spurs shouldn’t be this damaging to their results or performances.
They still have their best two forwards starting, the two guys who have absolutely carried them the past few seasons. They shouldn’t be struggling this much.
Kane and Son will still win them plenty of games, but slim victories playing turgid football and where you cede so much control / possession to the other team…it’s not sustainable. It is looking at this stage that Conte has been found out, or at least his squad has.
In the end, I fucking hate Spurs way more than United. If I was forced to choose at gun point out of the two to finish 4th, I’d choose United.
Spurs have 2 league titles in their history, get back in your mum’s basement you shitcunts.
If Napoli are in a commanding position at the top of Serie A would AdL be insane enough to pull the trigger on it? He’s not going to PSG, he’s not going back to Madrid, he’s not going back to Juve (and they’re broke), so I’m just struggling to think of an actual landing place for him midseason. If he was interested in moving to the MLS I’m sure United and MLS would rip up the salary cap, rule book and have Don Garber kick a whole litter of puppies live on primetime television to make it happen but I don’t think he wants to do that.
Nobody wanted him last summer, when he was trying to get out because he thought he was better than United. Nobody’s going to want him now, when he’s trying to get out because it turns out that he’s not even good enough to play for United.
