Didn’t Woodward approach Klopp but whatever he presented completely put Klopp off?
He literally described United as “an adult version of Disneyland” and Klopp did a U turn and decided to stay at Dortmund.
We can only hope the spirit of Woodward continues to live on in that club for many years.

Just had a look at Red Cafe. The genuine consensus seems to be that everything is Harry Maguire’s fault. Some of the fans would blame him for the war in Ukraine if they could.
Yeah Maguire has been bad. But it’s got to the stage now where even if he has a good game, he’ll still be the scapegoat. Even has all the pundits and ex players on his back. Scholes went in on him last night.
Don’t think he can come back from this.

That price tag makes it even harder for the fridge. Ben White has already shown a clear solution though.
Maguire should try and emulate White and be good at the game of football and that should fix the problem.

I hope he summons up all his willpower and vows to stay at United for a long time. I want quotes that he “loves the club and sees himself retiring” there.
His one-man Mustafi Tribute show has been tons of fun to watch this season.
He’s definitely not the whole issue (the squad was built by three coaches? Four coaches?) but it’s a lot of fun to watch them struggle.

He was shocking last night though. He’d get the ball and just dawdle on it until he got pressed then he’d awkwardly turn round and put himself under more pressure because he’s then having to rush to release the ball.
Easily the worst defensive signing in football history when you take into account his fee and his performances

You can blame Maguire for the shitty defending for Atleti’s goal but ultimately they were punished for being a disorganized that severely lacks in creativity.
What was Sancho doing yesterday trying to beat people with no direction? Why was Ronaldo coming in so deep, going down the wings like it’s 2007?
Elanga has no business starting for Man Utd.
Leaving Pogba on the bench and hooking one of your best players in Bruno is just baffling.
They’re a mess and it’s a shame because that squad could have done better things with someone more authoritative and competent as manager.
I can’t believe our luck, all Man Utd had to do was sign Conte. They’re rotten to the core.

Was it all hype because he’s English? I don’t remember him doing dumb stuff like that at Leicester as much.
Maguire has always been a bit of a buffoon. Funny I’d say the Merson video sums him up best, he wasn’t being asked to play a high line in a back 4 in his earlier career. He was defending deeper which minimises his flaws being exposed massively.
But in one on one situations? He’s always been crap. Bringing the ball out of the back? He always looks like he’s just chancing it.
His long ball distribution never really looked sensible to me either.
I never rated him and I think his move to United has basically exposed the limitations of a lot of these so called modern defenders.
