CR7 hasn’t aged as well as Messi had in terms of being able to contribute to a wider variety of the game.
Messi has refined his game over the decade so that when his physical attribute inevitably began their decline he was still able to contribute to the team.
Messi is still probably the best passer on the planet, has the best ball progression, the best free kick taker. And he can still score plenty of goals and is an expert assister.
CR7 may look the part and may be a fantastic poacher. He can still sprint at an obscene speed and has outrageous condition but truth be told there’s no comparison in how they’ve aged. One is still effective for the team whilst the other is only as effective as the service he receives
At Highbury not only did we have the best kit man we also had the best groundsman and regularly won the Groundsman Of The Season award but although they were so iconic I can’t remember their names.
Gets to a point where you have to ask when the players are going to start taking responsibility. But in this instance given it’s a Twitter nerd specialist in charge…
Football isn’t half as complex as the Twitter nerds want you to believe.
Problem with a lot of these coaches are they really do overcomplicate things. You really don’t need to practise everything as if it’s one big rehearsal. Sometimes just trust some of the talent to use their own ability to conjure something nice up.
Too many mechanical managers who want everything to be rehearsed
I’m so tired of managers that over complicate football. I get it, it looks cool to line up with a wild formation or looks amazing when the rehearsed pattern or play comes off but sometimes just let people play football lol.
The most magical moments in football aren’t the product of choreographed training ground routines.
Twitter nerds spend all day talking about statistics and just fucking cunting the shit out of this beautiful game by pretending they’re specialists when they use words like “creating overloads” and whatever other buzzword there is that makes them sound like tactical specialists.
There’s a need for routine and structure but not to the point where players become scared to play in case they forget the pass they were told to make every time they receive the ball in a certain position
