I’d like for him to stay, but won’t be upset if he’s gone. Loan/installment garbage will be upsetting. Tell Ivan money upfront or piss off. Arsenal need to quit being complete mugs when it comes to selling players.
If it comes to it that we have to sell him to Milan, we better make Gazidis pay through his nose for him. Don’t want us to be low balled by that bald fuck.
Disagree, he’s given one interview basically saying life in England is different to Italy, (who’d have thought it?)
We should keep him unless we get a ridiculous offer, because he’ll be worth even more next year. And if he was one of our best players last season in his first year when he was struggling to adapt, he’s going to be even better next season.
Honestly tho if Gazidis wants him this bad, he is probably a lit shittier than we think he is.
I’ve seen clips of Kessie and he looks like the type of dominant, b2b midfielder that every club looks for for. Wide passing range and ability to drive forward with the ball.
For Serie A watchers, does he have an elite ceiling?
Kessie will thrive in the PL whereas I think the Serie A is too tactical for him and rigid.
If he runs back to Italy here, he is looking a bit of a lightweight fraud IMO. He died in the run in and cannot all be put down to fitness.
He had a 3 match ban that bought him some recovery time and had no impact. As for the no show in Baku and tears being subbed off, think it left a lot of questions.
Honestly not bothered if he goes now. Italian Mark Noble.
Just need to get a big fee for him.
No excuses. Young guy, long contract, low wages.
I think Stroller is right. He looked very good in the first half of the season but dipped in the second half. If we could get a very good price for him or exchange for a genuinely good alternative it’s worth considering doing a deal. I would however be cautious about letting him go. I wouldn’t want to swap him for someone who’s just mediocre.
I do worry about swaps. When we got shittytaryan in exchange for Sanchez we just burned up a load of salary on a guy who’s already proven to be of limited benefit and consistency at the top level in the prem. It just took the squad further down the road of decline and mediocrity. We’re already in a battle to stay as high as 5th or 6th with the likes of the Everton and Leicester type teams.
Just 10m short of what we should be asking for
This is now imprinted in my brain. I’ll never look at Lucas the same again haha.
We’re a selling club and have been for years, so if we can make a 100%+ return on a player who didn’t really impress that much and doesn’t fit our system I’d be happy with that.
This would free up a slot for someone like AMN to play in CM which could be very positive for us.
To state the obvious, that could also be very fucking shit for us.
Certainly not an idea that enthuses me.
I suppose we could try and use the money from the Torreira sale to buy a replacement but I’m not sure I trust us to do that adequately
I don’t mind AMN but Torreira > AMN so I’m not sure that will be that positive for us if that’s the way it pans out.
For me Torreria could easily be one of the top midfielders in the league soon, at only 22 I’m baffled why we entertaining any offers for him.
He’s under a good contract, make him honour it for at least one more season.
I’d love to keep him and add another midfielder to the mix but if we’re forced to sell him (by the player wanting to leave) then we need to demand £60m or £40m plus Kessie from Milan.
But like I say we shouldn’t act too quick, if we were to give him another year he might adjust to the climate and culture. I know that’s risky as you don’t want an unhappy player but I think he’s the type of talent you have to try to nurture and keep in a side.
Kessie does look a cool player and it would soften the blow but it’s Xhaka I’d like to see him come in for. Though I suppose with 40-60 million we could do that, we just rarely seem to come out ahead in deals like this.
