I feel like you can add Giroud and Walcott to the successful pile no?
£20m a piece was good business for them I thinj

I forgot about Giroud but I honestly don’t know if that was good business.
The money was certainly good but in the context of buying Lacazette (who Wenger never wanted imo) and then buying Aubameyang it looks bad. Given that he’s gone on to ride the coattails of more successful players to a boatload of trophies makes it just feel worse too.
We never seem learn that if you buy average players and pay them world class wages, no sensible club will pay anywhere near what we did.
To be fair to Arteta and Edu, most of this was down to Wenger, who used to pride himself on being an economist but was actually useless in transfer dealings.
Look at the under performers we’ve had recently earning 100k or more a week, like Welbeck, Kolasanic, Lacazette, Luiz, etc, and Aubameyang, Mkhitayran and Ozil getting more than twice that.
It’s also why we’re struggling to sell players like Torreira, Xhaka, Bellerin, Soares, Leno, Pepe and why players like that are so hard to get rid of.
Hopefully this means we can finally wrap up the Tielemans deal. Would be a huge boost before the weekend.
Get it done Mr. Gaspar.
Another piss poor transfer fee.
I don’t mind though as long as we spend on a quality CM before the window closes.
Can definitely see this
I said this recently about having to get players out of the door before we can bring others in.
Seems like it may have been correct!
What a complete waster this guy turned out to be.
Whenever anybody talks of players leaving here as a cunt, this rodent will top that list.
You can’t be desperate to leave Arsenal but not be desperate to accept a reduction in your wages to facilitate that
I think some of the criticism he got was harsh but justified to be annoyed with him on this salary issue.
Hmmm, I dunno.
I’d reckon van Pussy and Cuntegras top that list.
I think, in a couple of years, we won’t even bat an eyelid at the mere mention of Torreira.
I know we won’t because those players mattered but this twat absolutely rinsed and abused this club.
One thing choosing United or Barcelona over us but fucking Galatasary and a couple of midtable Italian teams.
Doubtful
I do think @DavidHillier is right. Cesc and or Robin are higher up the list because they actually mattered.
This guy while very talented is an irrelevant footnote in our history. His best moment was scoring a goal against Spurs. Arsenal fans and probably football in general won’t give a shit about him in a few years.
Which serves him right really.
Cesc ain’t a cunt. But Van Persie is an absolute cunt though imo.
Not doubtful
Not that I disagree with any of this, but do you think there is a fallout between him and our manager? I know that he was getting a lot more playing time under Emery, for example (a la Guendouzi)
Just makes you wonder whether any blame at all can be apportioned to the Hatchet Man.
Not personally tbh. Although I would like to hear this prick actually give a reason.
I can’t remember him ever saying anything about his time here.
So after being linked with half the teams in Italy a few in Spain and Boca he ends up in Turkey, well thanks for your goal against spurs but I think his career is gonna end up being completely irrelevant.
His wiki page is under “Senior Career” is going to look like Kazim Richards’
He better not reject over personal terms
