Lionel Messi 🐐

I hope he joins City, would be epic having him in the league even if he’s past his best.

Yeah, agreed. Just as a fan of football and the Premier League in general, I’m really interested to see him in the league.

Realistically, we aren’t going to be competing for the league title anyway the next two years. Messi will either be gone or in serious decline by the time we are (hopefully) ready to actually be in that conversation again. And I’d rather see City win a couple more league titles than have Liverpool win again or, worse, United or Chelsea. City have no supporters anyway and all their accomplishments come with a giant asterisk so better to have them win than other clubs/supporters I despise.

Let him go to City for a couple of years and then we’ll nick him from city as a coach like we did with Arteta :arteta:

Do you not think that’s a contradiction, saying your a fan of the Prem and acknowledging City cheat but you hope they win the title.
Them fraudulently getting more success with buying Messi just disgusts me when they should already be facing punishment.
The longer this goes on the stronger they get. Gets even harder for the day Arsenal to be able too realistically challenge again or sustain status.
Really does have to be all about fuck City.

I understand where he’s coming from, would much rather City win the league than liverpool/united/chelsea and obviously spurs
United and liverpool supporters are insufferable, never liked chelsea especially when they had moanio at the helm and Spurs+the unchosen one speaks for itself

While we have no chance of winning it I’d be happy seeing City smash it out the park with everyone knowing money is the reason behind it.

Okay but tell me how you close the gap then. If they sign Messi sponsorship goes through the roof.
Whatever success he brings makes them bigger too buy the next big thing and employ bigger managers.
I’ll leave the moral and cheating arguments out of it.
Why make our own clubs progress harder and not far off impossible.

If you are Bartomeu, do you take this deal?

Life without Messi is coming for Barca sooner rather than later. I’d take that deal all day long and rebuild. They need to get their house in order, having 140 million quid Coutinho decimate them was far worse than anything that could happen to them with or without Messi.

The biggest thing you gain for City is brand growing. Also sadly it legitimises you in football fans eyes as creditable.
A nutmeg against a Southampton left back in January cleanses money laundering and might stop one of the team you use too compete with winning the title.

Messi is 33 years old lol

If that’s an actual deal on the table that’s crazy.

What you have to hope is that buying Messi cripples there ability to get a in a defender and defensive midfielder

Are we talking about City?

That deal basically rebuilds Barcelona’s spine and gives them funds to add to it.

They need to take that all day long lol

Barcelona only gain Silva out of them players imo.

The others improve them too, as would the 100 million if they could avoid being all Barcelona in how they spend it. But for me the one that really swings it is definitely Silva, he’d be absolute class there and improve them hugely. In my eyes he’s worth at least 80 million in this deal if I’m gonna put arbitrary values on the players.
