Youâd think at this point the only way the club could tempt him back would be the current president resigning and the challenger, who had aligned himself with Xavi actually delivering in order to make Messi happy. But that still doesnât solve their deadwood problem. Nobody wants Suarez, Rackitic, Vidal, Alba, Busquets and Pique on their current wages and not for any price that would help offset some of the truly terrible transfers theyâve conducted recently.
I know itâs been done to death but that Neymar transfer really did destroy the club.

Yeah, 15m sounds about right. Having Messi will disbalance a lot of FPL teams, but I guess nobody will want to miss out on having him in the team either

Former Barcelona president Joan Gaspart says he has seen Lionel Messiâs contract, and believes he cannot leave on a free this summer.
Gaspart says the clause in his contract ended in June, and believes he will leave next summer when his contract is up.
âHe cannot leave,â Gaspart told Radio MARCA. "He will have to leave in 2021. "I have seen the contract and it is very clear.
"The clause ended in June and there is no going back. I prefer him to leave next year for zero than to go now for less than 700m euros.
âThe club is in charge here, not the player. The club paid the players. And this is not a matter of money, there is a signed contract and thatâs it.â

Contracts need to be respected by both parties. 
Gaspart does seem to talk a lot of crap.
I guess it all comes to down whether June or the end of the season was specified in the contract. Either way you wouldâve thought that he would have had lawyers check before activitating.

Tbf Messi has given Barca his careers prime years and they have benefited big from it. Yes heâs been well payed and so on, but why not demand a reasonable symbolic sum and let him go? Heâs given the club 20 years of his life.

prolly because he is arguably the best player in the world and theyâre clueless for the moment without him. Theyâve built an entire squad around servicing this one player to a degree no large club has done with another player ever. Theyâve blown ÂŁ350m on three players (Coutinho, Griezmann, Dembele) whoâve done little to nothing for them so far. Since Laporta left and Bartomeu took over after Rosell (who left when Neymar left) theyâve been a serial disaster. They need to revamp their whole structure if he leaves, itâs a huge uncertainty.
Poor Koeman though, if you thought Lopetegui took a fall guy shit sandwich at Real when Ronaldo left, this is probably worse, Real were less dependent on Ronaldo than Barca are on Messi 
I mean theyâll get back on track somewhat eventually but they at least need to actually construct a plan, just being dumped via fax Iâm sure they have no clear strategy going forward right now, today.

Itâs just beautiful how pathetically prepared they were for this eventuality. Even if he wasnât talking about leaving heâs still 33 and approaching the end of his career and they have done zero planning for where they find themselves now. Youâd swear Gazidis was running the show
