Leicester City

I’ve never played with anyone from South Asia and thought to myself “he’s a good football player”. And I played to a reasonably high level in my life.

I guess it’s just not in their makeup right now but I think with changing attitudes in the generations to come their might be some good football players produced from that part of the world.

Harpal Singh on the subs bench at Leeds came closest a few years back

Ah yes I remember that guy, wasn’t that like 20 years back lol?

I also vaguely recall a Singh goalkeeper who made the news, must have been even more than 20 years ago. Forget the name.

But its slim pickings. However, I would be quite surprised if by 2030, we haven’t seen at least one apna bundah play in the PL. Surely?

Yeah lol. A few years, 20 years, my bad.

It’s a shame we didn’t see more of Harpal making a name for himself in the lower leagues.

The goalkeeper I’m not sure of. I’ll try a google search

Thing is, with apneh, we gotta be able to take shit. From grassroots, to upper leagues, any verbal abuse, and even physical. Take it on the chin. Don’t retaliate. Even if you’re good enough, retaliation is the way for the Man to knock you back.

With apneh, though, we’ll always retaliate. Too much anakh.

Well there’s this guy at Bayern, currently playing in their b team.

And big Hamza as mentioned. Slowly but surely.

Vikash Dhorasoo, formerly of Lyon, PSG and Milan, is the most high profile player of Indian/South Asian origin I can think of.

Which I guess says something.

I thought he might have once or twice. Part of me kinda wishes he did lol.

There was a lengthy interview with him on football focus when he originally broke through.

I never saw that, Champ Man was my only exposure to him, I’m still playing 00/01 and 01/02 versions.

Indians will need to pipe down on traditional food to have a chance at professional football

English players had to do that as well tbf.

I once knew an Indian fella who loved the stuff so much that he started snorting curry powder.

That’s true.
Not only did our players have to give up having curries, they had to give up drinking more than twenty pints of lager before eating it as well.

Wouldn’t worry too much now. His entire family’s looking after him.

Including his nan

The fried snacks granted but you can make curries/rice/chapattis without much fat and with high levels of protein if you avoid the oil, butter, cream, cocunut etc

I just heard Indians wave their fists in unison
