Leeds United

Leeds United will aim to make an announcement on a new appointment tomorrow.

They got the manager before they sacked him lol

If you’re a serious club that’s how you have to operate.

Can’t be like Spurs out here.

Stupid move, thrown away any chance they had of staying up with that garbage squad.

Bielsa far too good for Leeds and can’t imagine who they’ll get half as good. Fat Sam still knocking about for another rele scrap?

Beilsa played high-risk high-reward football, but lately without the reward.

I think @Phoebica is right that it’s got just as much to do with Bielsa’s “brand” if you want to call it that as his actual tactics.

I mean, calling that press conference to put Lampard back in his box over the spying was pretty funny. People like stuff like that.

Who do you reckon will be their next manager?

All the rumors have focused on Jesse Marsch.

Marsch stressed “fun and freedom” over traditional German values like organisation and discipline. He intentionally spoke of “our group” rather than “my team.” It’s clear that the players liked him personally but the tactical match just wasn’t there. Leipzig were trying to play in a style that was, for them, several years out of date under a coach who embodies that old style. It’s difficult to square that circle.

Former Germany international Stefan Effenberg remarked on television a few weeks ago that Marsch clearly was a coach who liked trying to win games 5-3, and argued that a club like Leipzig can’t go down that road; instead, they must introduce “basic belt and braces.” You can understand the argument. Faced with a squad that’s not suited to playing his way, can Marsch as a coach be flexible enough to change how he does things and adapt to the squad he has?

Not really sure he fixes their problems even if I like him as a personality. He’s definitely more of a cuddlier guy than Bielsa. Then again, knowing the English press, they will make a ton of Ted Lasso jokes and call it a day.

It’s a shame Lampard didn’t hang around for this job. First team talk, “first of all, you’re a bunch of cheats.”

@Phoebica @Joshua

Yeah fair looking at it from that perspective that makes a lot of sense.

Nice to see the universal love for him and how it united the fan base!

Definitely feel like his “genius” is overhyped a bit though

Tbf, taking that Leeds side back into the PL was a work of genius.

His defence in the PL…not so much :joy:

Have they kicked the bucket, too?

Anyone else think it was poor he didn’t do better on his English
Always thought Poch done really well with this after his first season.

I like to think he is fluent in English and just wanted to keep his sidekick around

I see both sides of it.

Speak it as a second (or third) language and run the risk of getting caught out by a bad faith question.

Speak through a translator and get pegged as someone who refused to adapt to his country of employment.

Good foil when you concede 60 goals though.
Transparency is big for you @Joshua. Just saying.

If you are working three years in a country you really should learn the language.

That works for Brits aswell

Yeah I tend to agree. People gave Emery a raft of shit over his English, but I wouldn’t be able to hold a press conference in Spanish. I barely speak English coherently.

Just keep saying “passion” with many different pronounciations. You’ll be fine
