Leeds United

You have a beef with Leeds? Why?

9th Place absolutely flattered them last season. 54 League goals conceded. They didn’t improve on that. Was always going to be reamed this season.

Bielsa is a terrible manager.

If they get a good manager in they’ll be fine

You know what? I don’t really know why.

I remember getting creeper vibes from their weird badge redesign which looked a little ahem questionable.

We really didn’t have reliable access to PL games when they were last in the league so beyond random highlights.

Maybe I just liked sneering at their fans about their delusions of grandeur when they were floundering down the divisions?

Some of the earliest soccer media or blog I could get my hands on after the 2002 World Cup probably reinforced the “Dirty Leeds” stereotype. Their fans certainly haven’t helped that stereotype.

So yeah, idk. I think they suck, I guess?

Would be great to see these turds go back down, belong in league 1.

That’s it for his career in the Prem. Maybe a La Liga job at a desperate club.

Be really curious if Marsch does come in. He failed at Leipzig but he’s very well regarded in the USA as a coach having gone through the RB system.

There was also a rumor linking Brendon Aaronson with Leeds in the January window. Aaronson is at RB Saltzburg right now. So maybe they’re trying to cozy up to that RB machine.

Real difficulty is changing the mindset of that squad overnight.
It all bought into that set up. Reality is there’s not much in it.
Pretty standard championship level player’s with one stand out and two injured needed players.
They had too roll the dice though.

12 games left, I think they need about 4 wins.

Most crucial, looking at their fixture list, are Villa, Southampton, Norwich and Brighton at home. Real 6 pointers away to Watford and Brentford (which is incidentally the last day of the season)

I’d probably think Bielsa is one game away from the sack. Lose to City next week and he’s out (even if it’s a hard-fought 1 goal decicit loss)

Good analysis. Very astute.

Woke up to see he might have been sacked…has it been confirmed?

Yep, scroll up a wee bit

Yeah saw it on here, just wasn’t on BBC which threw me a bit.

It’s got to be a sacking at this point. Too much smoke.

Maybe I don’t know football well enough but I’ve never understood the hard on for Bielsa.

The only thing he has ever really won are a couple of league titles in Argentina in the 90s and in Europe it’s basically just the Championship with Leeds.

The way people spoke about him I thought he was some kind of revolutionary genius a la Cruyff/Wenger/Sacchi/Ferguson that turned the game on its head and win tonnes of trophies with big and small teams.

He’s not even managed any really big teams, Lazio and Marseille are small fry in the grand scheme of things.

Seems like all the hype comes from twitter need football pundits and then people that played for him, but you can’t always count on that.

Depends who you listen to really. He’s obviously not the best coach in the world, like Pep said. But there is clearly something about his methods. He is a football idealist and has strong principles, which a lot of people appreciate. He can turn a team around.

People like him as a human being as well, especially how there were no thrills. Living in a little flat and just getting stuck into the city life. There are so many stories about him doing nice things, especially in the local area. From paying for a gym to be built for staff to calling up and visiting seriously ill fans.

Leeds fans will certainly always appreciate him

Lol all the Leeds fans piling on the Leeds reporter from the first tweet.

It reads to me like they are Bielsa fans and not Leeds fans. Bit weird tbf even if they have a great connection

Confirmed
