Think of it this way, if the new winger we sign next season somehow turns out a dud or I dunno, they do their ACL on their first game of the season like Timber (knock on wood), who would you rather relying to play left wing in their place next season, Trossard or Martinelli?
For me it’s obviously Martinelli. Trossard’s best days are behind him. He has already showed signs of not being able to play out wide and he’s only getting older.
I would ideally keep them both to be honest and get rid of Jesus but we don’t even know if the dude will be fit before the summer window even closes.
So that’d make it what? 3 new forwards in the summer?
Bit of an overkill. Neither is completely useless but them two being our left wing options isn’t ideal for a PL/CL contender.
I rate Trossard, but his style is not a great fit for this team. He’s been a very solid signing and should have collected a league title within his first few months here.
and this guy has the balls to (supposedly) be turning us down haha…please leave i cant be assed with players like this now sick to death of his gameplay.
So, so bad. He can no longer play up front. This gimmick is dead and buried.
I’ll take Jesus, Havertz, Nketiah, I’ll even take current Lacazette up top over him.
All he does is drop deep, be a ball hog, release it at the worst possible time and to the worst option available.
Whenever we send a ball into the box he’s never there, and when the ball somehow lands on him he’ll somehow manage to fluff it taking a thousand touches.
Thought he was one of our best players today. Nearly scored a brilliant solo goal in the first half, felt most of our promising attacks involved him.
He’s significantly better out wide compared to up top, something I never thought I’d say after arguing the counter point many times in the past(I know @Flexo did too).
The injury to Jesus kinda screwed him because I think he and Martinelli could’ve been decent cover options.
Overall, if he goes I think he’s highly exceeded expectations. One of our best bits of business under Edu and Arteta.
Best case scenario for everybody here is Jesus recovering in time and being allowed to go.
Even if it is on loan, if they can at least cover his wages that’s good enough. You’ll then hope he has a good spell wherever it is and move him on permanently next summer.
If Trossard is open to a more rotational role, he can be very useful next season.
