Leandro Trossard (19)

I was thinking about this too. Not a bad problem to have mind you. Trossard’s versatile enough to compete for other spots on the pitch anyway.

Love the way he defends as well.

Yes. Has stepped up in a big way to help mitigate Ode being sidelined.

Easily has been one of the better “value” signings of any club in the PL for the last few seasons.

Always said he’s not a winger. Atm he’s just enjoying to play the position that suits him the best.

He’s hit his prime right now. That’s exactly what we need at this stage of the squad’s cycle.

Ødegaard and Trossard at this level will be necessary for us to achieve big things. A younger Trossard isn’t as mature, isn’t as accepting of a rotation role, or fighting for his place at a big club.

I actually think we’re so lucky to have got Trossard for £20m at his age. He’s a massive player for us and for me his age / experience is a major factor.

Glad you said it because this has been so noticeable this season.
This wasn’t always the case. I remember when he first arrived he was still a brilliant player but he wasn’t performing at the same level off the ball, he was just about doing a solid job but that was it.
It’s what probably cost him his spot on the team at times.

He’s defending like an absolute animal now. He’s not even shying away from duels, even aerial ones which is a bit hilarious to watch given his size.

Sterling and Jesus better be patient, same goes for Merino because in this form Leo has to be one of the first names on the team sheet.

We’ve made a lot of brilliant signings in the past few years but this guy is right up there as one of my favourites.

He’s had the sort of impact I hoped Arshavin would have for us when we signed him (looking past that first half season).

Are we seeing 8 hours of sleep Trossard finally unleashed?

The timing and weight of that pass was sublime. He keeps on producing these composed and clinical moments of magic. He’s even stopped and anticipated the run which shows the connection he has with Havertz. Fantastic execution when you consider how little margin for error there was with a unit like Donnarumma shepherding anything slightly loose.

That assist reminded me a bit of the crosses Sanchez would put in for Ozil. But in many ways this was even better.

There’s crazy competition right now to start. Even Martinelli is presenting a strong case having recently been under fire.

I got Santi flashbacks personally.

The way he drifts from that left 8 position into the SS role to make that cross was sublime. Quality player.

Wish there was a way to fit both him and Odegaard in the team without having him on the wing.

It’s hard to justify two 10’s when the physicality we’ve kept in the team has yielded such excellent results. But if we have to do it then those two are the best options. For me Trossard is still the more worthy player to start on the left over Martinelli. He’s not got the legs and pace of Martinelli to track as effectively but right now Martinelli is not competing with that end product.

A couple of moments he could have done better but he was on it today on the ball. It’s starting to look like a tough argument to make that he isn’t a starter for us

I was fuming when he didn’t pass to Martinelli but luckily Saka came to convert that chance anyway.

Have Belgium called him up or did they decide not to again?

He’s been called up for them
