Yeah, I think Gyokeres will be wrapped up before that.
The damning part, if that wild theory is correct, is that there’s a sequence of events where Sane accepts our offer, Trossard renews, Rodrygo decides to stay and Arsenal’s winger options next season would have been Saka, Sane, Martinelli and Trossard.
Im in disbelief with what you’re saying that I can only default to saying the following:
Thanks for the update.
Don’t make post that Upamecano “A man from contacted me” Exclusive again Mr Eduardo Hagn Superfan.
I think that’s possible. Another, maybe more favorable, way to think about it is that they went into the window knowing they needed a striker and another winger (to replace Sterling). And they would also be looking at market opportunities in terms of buying and in terms of sales if Trossard or Martinelli received good offers. And that they would figure out how to get the right mix of profiles in terms of having multiple players comfortable on both the left and right and also in terms of having at least three tricky, dribbly touchline wingers and one more playmaking winger.
I just sincerely hope that pulling the trigger on Madueke means the club is convinced that at least one of Trossard/Martinelli can be sold for an acceptable fee and therefore that a better replacement can be brought in. Going into the season with only Martinelli/Trossard on the left again - or Madueke at times - would be a huge let down.
Yeah, I think the club saw Madueke and Eze and thought they found that right balance where Madueke offers the right level of cover for Saka and can also play LW as a touchline winger if needed, and in Eze they saw someone who could play LW like Trossard but also play deeper(Trossard was trialed there but it wasn’t a good fit for him).
Fuck sake
Scratch that, wouldn’t mind if Tross stays as long as it doesn’t stop us bringing in eze
He’s a useful rotation option and people will appreciate him a lot more when he isn’t starting so many matches.
In an ideal world he fills in for cup games, comes off the bench to give key players and a rest and stands in when someone picks up a little knock.
Thats what he was meant to be signed for. That he’s been relied upon so heavily is why his flaws are being magnified.
I think this one bubbles under the surface until the brink. We’re at a standstill with him regarding another contract/wage improvement anyway.
I want him to stay unless it’s a good offer over 30m. Personally I would’ve been touting him to Saudi clubs for ~40m since Jan to get them warmed up for a summer bid.
As much as I get frustrated by him, he’s a very useful utility player who just shouldn’t be starting regularly like he has had to. When he can contribute off the bench or starting when he’s more fres, then he can be useful across the entire front line and a sneaky backup for Odegaard too.
To sell him for pennies would piss me off more than spunking 50m on Noni. We HAVE to use our funds better to beat city and liverpool to the title. We can’t afford wastage on buying or selling.
Trossard staying means Madueke is probably the only forward signing. It’s essential Trossard is sold tbh.
Tross in his current form is better than Madueke on the LW
Needs to be retained
Someone has to give way. Said in another thread there’s no way we’re having 8 attacking options for the front 3 positions on the books.
Half of them will probably be injured for a few months next season, but agreed I think one or both of Trossard/ Martinelli is in the way out.
Havertz
Gyokeres - tbc
Saka
Madueke - tbc
Martinelli
Trossard
Right now it’s 6 assuming we confirm the two tbc plus Nwaneri. One of Trossard or Nwaneri will be the Odegaard backup instead imo.
So even if we add Eze I think it’s fine as he will also play some in midfield, if we got Eze and Rodrygo (unlikely) then it’s too many.
Jesus is irrelevant til Dec.
Trossard has been a great buy for us but Eze will be a real upgrade, capable of doing many of the same things in the penalty areas but so much better everywhere else.
Eze will be a significant improvement on Trossard in doing the Saka type things at LW to help us progress the ball, receiving it under pressure along the touchline and also rolling to the inside to receive, dribble, and create. He’ll also be able to play that left 8 position when we’re chasing a goal or facing a certain teams, which is something Arteta quickly realized was beyond Trossard’s capability. You need the engine to get up and down the pitch and you need the defensive nous to play in the middle of the block.
Hopefully this is nonsense.
Couple of minor reports suggesting that Bayern Munich could be interested in signing Trossard, if they can’t do a deal for Diaz.
This potentially frees up a spot for Rodrygo…get it done Berta!
