That would make Arsenal by far the biggest sports team ever in terms of purchase price. Nearly twice the price of the entire UFC…Couldn’t be remotely true.
Thing is all these clubs are owned by questionable people, God knows what the Kroenkes and the Walmart family have been involved in.
But at this point it would be nice to have owners who actually have some interest in the sport. Instead of those who solely treat us like a brand or just an asset.
This is where football is heading, so unless we want to spend the next 20/30 years just being mid table then (even though it’s a pipe dream) we really need new owners.
All owners care about the money, finding one that genially cares about the club too is rare. I want KSE gone as much as the next guy, but by being part of the ‘direction football is heading?’ Just accepting it like it’s ok and something we all want? No thanks.
I understand where you coming from bro, and I don’t like it either but it’s not like we have a choice. These guys aren’t going anywhere, rather we got bought out by the Qataris then say Spurs or West Ham.
Everyone turned up their nose at Usmanovic but is he really worse than the guy who owns city? Or than Abrahamovic or the Spanish Royal Family?
If it does happen, we’d be the first club that oil rich investors have bought that have a massive fanbase, rather than the plastic, glory hunting fans that Chelsea and Man City have accumulated.
At least we won’t have to advertise games, when there aren’t enough supporters to fill the seats.
But, realistically, who is going to pay 7.2m for a mid table club?
