Kieran Tierney (3)

Absolutely superb when he came on
Was the perfect game for him with challenges flying about and getting a bit heated.
He loves it, and was the calm head in the middle of it all.

Should have come on earlier IMO

Defensively speaking, he’s one of the worst LB’s we’ve ever had. Tavares wasn’t even as braindead defensively.

Does Zinchenko’s positives outweigh his negatives at LB? I’m not so sure. Teams target him and he gets roasted every single game.

I think he can be shifted to midfield and cover LB when absolutely necessary.

I’d argue he is better than Tavares defensively, and significantly better than Santos obv :joy:
Still doesn’t mean he’s good at it - we have a nice balance of options at the club atm, hope that continues after this season

Jesus Christ lol

The issue with players like this is having stronger cover from your midfield.
There’s always going to be some give on the defence side. It’s part of the modern game.
TAA has been massively exposed this season but it’s always been a weakness in his game.
It’s been highlighted though as Liverpool midfield was shot to bits for most of the season.
The pluses though are the same as with Zinchenko.
The days of elite fullbacks like Cole and Evra are mostly gone now.
Games changed/evolved or whatever.

Yup, cover from midfield and a CB on that side that can aggressively move to help and cover, knowing they’ve got a rock solid partner in the middle who can handle themselves. Matip or Konate could do that when they had prime Van Dijk alongside them, Gabriel can do it with Saliba there but not Holding.

Yep it’s an unpopular opinion. Every winger has him on toast and it’s hard to watch.

Well, this man won’t be here next season.

I’m truly baffled by the decision to leave him out today. It only makes any sort of sense if he’s carrying a knock. Forest’s main danger is a pacey right winger.

Also would make sense to try and get him a couple more good games to fluff his value up this summer, I’d have thought anyway.

Good player, but doesn’t seem to fit into Arteta’s plans.

Thanks for everything, Kieran!

He’s actually gone to great lengths to not use him this season.

Used Tomiyasu and Cedric there before the WC and now it looks Xhaka or Kiwior are getting the nod there too.

Bit of bad end for someone who was a fan favourite and even an Arteta favourite not too long ago.

I mean, he’s a good player. But this isn’t really the setup for him.

They practically tried to ignore him last week against Brighton. It was fucking ridiculous actually.

It was one of the first times he didn’t try to emulate what Zinchenko did, and it certainly didn’t work well.

Out of ignorance, who ignored him?

On topic though I’m absolutely gutted for him. I see that he doesn’t fit into Arteta’s role but still not nice to see for such a likeable guy and player

Maybe the Cancelo rumours have some merit to them.

Basically didn’t receive a pass when we were building up from defence. There was a few times Tierney was overlapping and it felt like his run was ignored. It ended up producing a really lopsided display for much of the game.

Tierney is certainly Cancelo’d.
