people said the same about viera and a year later he is looking a lot better than he did. Give him a season to adapt and see…i think if we can get him back to his bundesliga days we will have a decent player.
fans are on “Havertz” watch every single game, magnifying his performance “play by play”, and not even willing to give him a “period of time”, like a few months, half a season or so to judge.
One bad play there, he is bad, Arteta takes a L, terrible transfer, waste of money.
Short sighted.
Bundesliga days is a long time ago in football terms and honestly looking at him now he is not the same player at all compared to then
I hope he can evolve and adapt because hoping for the Havertz seen playing for Leverkusen may not be possible
I do still think it’s too early to be completely losing our heads over him and he certainly isn’t the only problem we have right now, but definitely he needs to improve fast.
I was fully supportive of this move purely from the standpoint that I trusted if Arteta had such a specific idea in mind for such an odd player that he must be pretty confident in whatever plan he had. So far it’s impossible to understand Havertz as an 8, or frankly Havertz anywhere…
It merely confirms he’s at the boundary of his abilities.
Can the Havertz defence force please take to the stand…
£65m, 3 years of EPL evidence. He’s just good enough. I’m just glad Arteta has agreed, hence dropping him in games.
If he turns out well, that’s great. But right now all he’s doing is taking up space.
Should be putting feelers out to Madrid see if they still interested. Reminds me of mkhitaryan in a way, doesn’t have the minerals for this league so to speak.
What’s the most frustrating part, he should have went for a more obvious upgrade on the ball, someone who will support Odegaard more in the creation and build up and give us more ideas.
In the end he got a more technical, skilled (still not skilled enough) version of Xhaka, someone who mostly works off the ball, but doesn’t have any end product lol, and who doesn’t really defend.
Also, Xhaka was much more effective in the build up (even with that being his weakest part) and was able to positon himself the right way and move us forward with simple passes. Havertz is in useless positions most of the time.
Who would have tought we would be missing Xhaka this much?
Did Arteta said he was undroppable?
Yet, he started the CL game.
Takiing whom’s place? ESR?
Vieira starting to get games in good forms, so what does it mean?
It means Kai will be dropped from now and not able to get back the starting spot?
I don’t have answers to all these questions, but based on what we’ve seen.
Arteta isn’t picking him for every game like we was originally, cause he realised he’s not good enough.
It seems like Vieira is starting EPL games until Havertz gives a reason to take his place back.
Personally thought he did OK today…
Havertz out reminds me very much of Arteta out couple seasons back. Heightened awareness of any mistakes
Btw, I think it’s a bit weird that we had so many fuckups from various players in this game but his thread gets the discussion going instead.
He was easily the best midfielder out of him, Odegaard and Jorginho in that second half.
He might have played well in the German league but he’s not playing in the Bundersfarmersliga any more and has never adjusted to the PL in all the seasons he was at Chelsea.
Buying him wasn’t a problem, but giving a rival club a massive fee for a player who did nothing for them, when we could have spent less on proven quality, is bizarre.
At some point, we have to learn that Chelsea will continue to have us over, as long as we keep buying their players.
They certainly Havertz us over with this transfer.
Xhaka’s in possetion contribution is miles ahead of Havertz, his passing range, ball striking and crossing cant be compared to havertz
how do you know Kai “lost” his place?
how do you know Arteta thinks he is “not good enough”?
like you said, based on what you have seen, not what Arteta sees.
@SeanG79 yes, I think he was decent today. Offensively as usual, but did a lot of pressing, got into duels, working hard. Defensively he did nothing wrong.
His problem is on the final third, but not costing us points or the game.
because he is the easiest scapegoat of everything.
so obvious Kai was not the issue in today’s game, while he was the first to be crucified, along with Jorginho.
Others could escape everything even not performing or play below par.
Cause he started every game, till Vieira gave Arteta a reason to start him instead.
So Arteta started Vieira in recent EPL games, everyone can see it.
If Vieira wasn’t showing promise, Havertz would’ve started all the games this season so far.
I agree, Havertz is not the issue for today’s result, but he wasn’t good.
It was Jorginho’s, Jesus’s and Eddie’s fault for today’s result.
yes, all “speculations” ( I meant he lost his place)
I do agree that he is not good enough at this moment. Definitely.
Should we smack him every single game? Nope
He’s had 3 seasons…
you guys can call me Havertz defense force.
Even a top athlete needs rehab time to recover after injury.
Kai had 3 terrible seasons and needs time to recover, it is not too much right? IF we do agree that he had 3 bad seasons, nothing good.
