Our holding midfielder is going to have one hell of a job on their hands trying to close the spaces in our midfield.
I get that Zinny, White and Timber can push into midfield, but there are going to be lots of holes to exploit.

It won’t be that different from last season, as Xhaka played that role. The difference is Havertz should be a better goal and attacking threat. I understand this role would be more akin to the role he played when he was in Germany. IF we sign Rice, we would have a better DM IMO than Partey, which helps with the balance of the team. Zinny will still invert from the left, but this is why I would still love to have Caicedo. If we signed Caicedo, he could play RB and invert into midfield. With Zinny on the left, we would effectively transition from 4-3-3 to 2-3-5 in possession. Signing Caicedo basically means we have cover for Ben White who can rotate with Saliba at RCB. I realise that we are linked with Timber, who can potentially do the same job, but Caicedo is a destroyer. Him and Rice would dominate the midfield battle.
