Pre-Chelsea game

Injury update from Arteta: - Trossard to have another test today, but injury ā€œdoesn’t look muchā€ - Gabriel Jesus played in a friendly yesterday and it was ā€œvery positiveā€ - Will decide tomorrow if Gyokeres and Havertz can play on Sunday

I swear he has played for us less than 5 times this calendar year?

He genuinely will feel like a new signing :joy:

Arteta is in a whole different time reality.

Who knows, the next time Havertz could be years aways, seconds, centuries, minutes…

The concept of time… Do we really understand it?
:pires2:

This is what it means to be managed by Arteta.

One striker that can exploit open spaces like this but can actually finish, that’s all I ask for.

Said the other day he’s probably the player we miss the least given Gyokeres and Jesus are back. Was definitely wrong.

Terrible finisher. Will be great to have back but he’s not the saviour.

No guarantee he will be the same player either when he returns.

Nearly out for half the season. They communicated the surgery wasn’t gonna keep him out for a very long time. Was false.

He’s genuinely missed a whole year what the fuck did he do in that sub appearance vs Utd

That tweet doesn’t mention the year, so could be next Christmas.

Whatever your thoughts on his finishing ability, ā€œserviceā€ isn’t a problem when he’s in the team.

That’s why I’m worried about Gyokeres, he doesn’t even get the chances to miss, nor create his own.

I would never have guessed. Perhaps more of your posts should be on this subject.

He’s the biggest issue in the team. Some players are off form but are proven at the top level.

This guy has won the lottery to play for a club as big as Arsenal. Should be chasing punts for Dyche at Forest.

I had no idea you felt that way.

Out of curiosity @TheArsenal, what is your opinion on other choices up top?
So Jesus, Havertz and Merino. Also, how does Nketiah compare to Gyokeres? :eyes:

I’d rather have Merino and Havertz, think Arteta would too.

This is not my point tho. Gyokeres was signed as the goalscorer, the missing piece, an upgrade on what we had and is now being treated like Havertz lite.

They are all ordinary.

I think Merino has become the best option in terms of how he fits with the rest of the team, even though he’s not the best player or the best striker, which is still Havertz in my opinion.

If Havertz could actually finish, he’d be elite/world class cause his positioning is arguably the best I’ve seen from an Arsenal striker in years.

This was why Arteta was so annoyed with the constant questions about signing a striker the past two or so years, because he knew the market was so scarce. Gyokores still has more goals this season than Isak who everyone would’ve killed for and Sesko who was viewed as the other option, so it’s not as if any of the players we would’ve signed instead of him this past summer have been bagging bucket loads of goals either.

Gyok is limited for sure, but there’s a reason Arteta wasn’t so focused on the need to sign an out and out striker as many of the supporters were screaming for. He wants a Havertz/Merino type in that position, it’s just how he see’s it.
