Quality game from him indeed. If he can figure out how to strike the ball with accuracy and ferocity, I think he could be a 25+ goal striker tbh.

He’s found his confidence again so I’m comfortable we’ll get close to 20 league goals from him - if not more.

Guess it depends how much game time he gets as our striker.

Oh god, you’re not suggesting he’s going to play more minutes at 8 than at striker are you?

actually it was a good game for him as an attacking midfielder.
If not Merino, he is the one that can give Ode to rest a game.

He got 13 league goals last season, and those mainly came in the second of the season when he found his rhythm in this team.

If he plays another 35+ games then I’d be hoping for at least 15 this time round. Hopefully closer to 20.

I’m putting most of my hopes now into Havertz to fill that void created with Merino’s and Ode’s injuries.

He’s not close to Ode’s ability on the ball, but seeing how much his confidence grew overall, and seeing that game above for the NT, acting as a 10… I just have to put my hopes in him.

He can’t dribble as Ode, but he can buy himself some time with smart movement, he can spot a pass too. His pressing is great which is quite important for our number 8s.

If we can create some dynamics there that could work. I definitely expect him to get a run as a number 8 now. I just don’t see anyone else. No way Nwaner does the job with his 17 years of age, unless he’s the new Messi. I’d love it but can’t see it.

We could have an isuse up front now, but I hope Jesus can stay fit for a while and use this likely opportunity. Trossard has shown in some games last season he can be brilliant as an false 9, but he’s definitely not the solution against every defence.

We just about have enough solutions on paper, let’s see if it can work. Exciting days ahead. :wright2:

How dare you give me hope.

it’ll be some of the days of all time. for sure.

Couldn’t watch but Twitter said he was unreal

Lovely

Unreal? Not really, but put in a solid shift.

Unfortunately people can’t accept that he’s been performing at a high level regardless of his position this year.

He’s been one of our best players the entire year. He was always great for us off the ball, even in the early parts of last season, but now he’s got the confidence, chemistry and understanding with the team so everything is just clicking now.

I’ll say it again, Arteta could go mad like Nagelsmann and use him at left back and Havertz will still perform.
Top player, top mentality.
