Kai Havertz (29)

What we need is a wide man who can play both sides, not just the left.

So every now and then we can actually give Saka a rest, and not panic over his replacement.

I genuinely think Jesus is that guy and I wish we’d use him there more.

I think Arteta is ready to use Jesus on the wings more but the key issue is his availability.

Jesus was that guy at city they’d regular play him on the wing especially in big games. Not sure why we rarely do it.

The only assumption I can make is that he came to Arsenal on the agreement we’d use him as a CF and he’s firm in his desire to stay in that role.

Can’t think of any other reason he’d be perfect rotational option on either side of the CF.

He had a great hand to demand that kind of role when he joined, the situation is much changed now and he’s got a task on to get in the team at all.

I think he’s more likely to accept a role on the wing now.

I think he could definitely play on the left, but I’ve never liked him on the right.

The issue nowadays is that he was quite a bit lighter, quicker and more mobile during those times and it was quite easy to do the job on the wing for him at the time.

He’s still a hardwoker on the pitch these days too, but has put on some weight compared to those days and can’t cover all that space effortlessly as he did before. Obviously the injuries he had over the last two seasons didn’t help him either.

He can definitely do a job there occasionally (personally I would definitely use him on the flank more often than Arteta does) but he’s definitely not as strong there as he was in his City days.

He’s reached a point where it doesn’t matter where you play him, this guy is simply a difference maker on the pitch.

He’s honestly become one of our best players.

Wouldn’t rely on them for position data tbh even those CF numbers look overstated to me. Noticed in the past they have weird position tracking numbers which is odd since it’s one of the easiest stats to monitor.

I can’t remember more than 5 games of him being played down the middle. We’ve always had laca, auba, Jesus etc in his time here so why would he be up top even semi-regularly.

He’s a winger, it’s always just been a fan idea about him potentially being a CF.

He can do a serviceable job up front but that’s it.

17 G/A in 14 games is nothing short of elite production. Obviously the optics don’t always look great but if those stats were even close to that over a season (e.g. 35-40 G/A in 50 or so games) it’s hard to think of many other guys outside of Haaland who are gonna come in in that position and have anywhere near that level of impact.

Arteta and Edu deserve a lot of credit for taking the chance on Havertz and paying big big money to bring him in. His development under Arteta and return to confidence has only heightened the faith I have in Arteta as a coach to extract the maximum he can out of a player.

Kai looked a dejected figure going down the Werner route and all of a sudden he’s one of the PL’s most in form attackers.

He still lacks that little bit of power & finesse that makes him unconvincing.
His run of games since the start of the year should give me confidence, but deep inside; I won’t be surprised if things go sideways for him this season. There is no assurance.

Also I feel like it is inevitable when we come across a team in a crucial match who would be hard to beat and a rare chance will fall to Havertz & he will not be able to capitalise on it.

I agree that having Kai and Jesus as our strikers is pretty risky.
Trossard is not young anymore.

Unfortunately, Sesko was unimpressive in the Euro, and Gyoxxxxxes is overpriced.

Thankfully, he is a big game player. And that’s before Arteta did his magic with him.

And to think Kai’s pulling these numbers without even being able to kick the ball properly.

If he can sort that part of his game out, he might end up better than prime Adebayor.

Adebayor? I thought you were going to say Aubameyang.

As an initial hater and low key detractor, fully agree. I think he can hit 20 league goals

You cannot argue with actual production at the end of the day.
