Kai Havertz (29)

If you were given the choice now, who would you rather have starting in midfield for Arsenal in the 23/24 season?

  • Havertz
  • Xhaka

He’s started the last couple of games on the right.

Majority of his cameos as a sub have been up top and in general he goes up top in the latter stages of games even if he started in midfield.

How’s that one dimensional? He’s played 3 different positions. He’s easily one of our most versatile players atm.

Ive gone with Havertz because we all spent years wanting to move on from Xhaka. If it turns out Kai isn’t the guy then we’ll hopefully get someone else quicker than it took us to replace Xhaka.

Only because of injury.

I’m not doubting his versatility, I actually think that’s part of the problem.

on paper we have one CDM and two CM but when the game moves on, they interchange a lot (Rice did more than Partey) and no such LCM or RCM at that point. Some occasions Rice even went deeper than the two CMs.
So, versatility is important, at least for Arteta.
Our players moving around a lot in different areas of the pitch.

Simply judging it off Xhaka’s 22/23 season and Kai 23/24 season, then it’s pretty impossible to make a case for Kai.

Jesus. We really just lit 65m on fire.

Cole Palmer really isn’t that good IMO

Those are pitiful numbers for forward midfield player (from Havertz). Unless his role here isn’t to play the way Palmer does and rather to be a lamp post to control long balls and help us control possession + involve the wingers.

Genuine question, have you watched the kid play? He’s exceptional. Destroyed us in the community shield, and again in midfield the other week.

You’ve come to that conclusion on how many games?

He’s impressed at Chelsea there’s no doubt about that tbh

Yet you’re someone who calls Havertz a baller, between the two Palmer looks like he has more to his game when it comes to actually playing ball and not simply defending

For a young player at a new club, Palmer has been more impressive than Havertz has with us, or even in previous seasons with Chelsea.

He is not exceptional, nor did he destroy us in the community shield. He want inside on Tierney (which a lot of players are capable of) and scored a decent goal, that is it.

He might grow and become better than he is now, but I wouldn’t call him exceptional.

That is not to say he is doing better than Havartz (at the very minimum has had more impact with his goals).

He would walk into our midfield right now, if he was here. Havertz would get benched.

I think goals aren’t even the main thing

It’s how he is aiding in the progression and facilitation aspects especially in transition, you can tell he has the Pep scholarship and a good football IQ.

That’s why he has become so depended on by Poch in a short amount of time, in terms of playing ball he’s shown so much more than Havertz that it’s a bit embarrassing.

Like I said, I agree he is doing better than Havartz. I simply don’t agree with calling him exceptional.

He really didn’t destroy us lol he has looked good for the chavs of late but no need to exaggerate the CS performance lol

Not really a midfielder either tbh

I thought he was electric when he came on in that game. I was thinking ā€œwho is this kid?ā€. Excellent talent. I just rewatched the highlights, he played very well and scored an excellent goal, it’s not every day a new young kid can do that against their club’s strongest rivals.

Neither is Havertz based on those numbers.

He played like 30 minutes lol surprised you didn’t know anything about him before that game considering he has been around the City setup for a few years now.

Didn’t say the goal wasn’t good, just that he didn’t really ā€œdestroyā€ us, that’s a wild exaggeration.
