Smith Rowe is looking at a long term extension. Might as well give him the keys, forget Odegaard and sign someone like this as back up/competition for #10 and left winger.

Lad is very talented.
I wasn’t fond of this move in January given his form but as a summer move for the reported fee I don’t mind.
17m is a gift for a player like him.

Poor end product? Scored only two goals this season and only two assist… I don’t know.
Nothing? They have Reus, Reyna, Sancho hence he’s not involved in their future plans. Plus they don’t need him as back up because they have Hazard and Reinier.
We need to sign an attacking midfielder. Odegaard might be too expensive and/or we’re prepared to give Smith-Rowe a chance to claim his spot as a starter. Hence we’re going for a cheaper 2nd option?

Reus is a veteran already and won’t be fit for long.
Strange if they plan for long term in Reus but exclude Brandt.
Yeah. But they still have Reinier on loan for another season. He can be Reus’ back up. Hence there is less need to keep Brandt around.
