Jose Antonio Reyes(RIP)

I was so excited for Reyes when he arrived. This Chelsea game was a huge statement from him and honestly I feel like he had so much to offer.

Brilliant little player was Reyes.

I liked how he had a parting shot at Cashley when he left Arsenal :joy:

He was a red hot prospect but overall I was disapointed on not pushing on somewhat. He seemed the much better prospect than RVP at the time

I think he made that LW position his own for about 2 seasons. He wasn’t as good as Pires or Overmars in that position but we haven’t had anyone better than Reyes since.

The sad narrative is Gary Son-of-a-fatherless-jackal Neville “broke” him. He didn’t.

It was just the weather here in the end that was the deciding factor for Reyes. It’s a shame but, as Wenger said, he can’t change the weather for him.

Still a massive regret he didn’t spend the bulk of his career with us :weary:

Why? His goals output was terrible, wherever he played. If he were in our squad today, we’d be clamouring for him to be sold.

Arsenal 110 games played 23 goals
Atletico 154 games played 14 goals
Seville 157 games played 15 goals

He wasn’t all about goals.

Best LW we had since Pires. If he played in our team today he’d make all our attacking players look shit

His assists were just as poor.

Yeah cos assists is what it’s all about. :man_facepalming:

You’ll be telling me his pre assists were shit too next

We just rewriting history or something now? Reyes has the best (or second best) minutes per assist ratio in PL history of players with 20+ assists.

21 assists and 16 goals in 69 PL games (I don’t even have a breakdown of how many of those games were substitute appearances or full 90).

37 goal contributions in 69 games. That’s better than a 1 in 2 record.

Reyes in 04/05 had an outrageously high ceiling.

The legend is true, if you diss on Reyes or R9 @SRCJJ will appear.

I loved Reyes when he came. That Middlesbrough come back game in 04 was the one that stood out for me. It really felt that Reyes was better than Ronaldo the first season we bought him. Ronaldo looked like a headless chicken for united . Up until the 4-2 game in February 2005 season . I think John fucking O’Shea chipsd whoever was in goal to finish us off ffs . I thought Referees didn’t protect him enough but his talent was a mountain, don’t blame him going back to Spain after how the Neville Brother tried to kill him to end our unbeaten run in 2004 . Julio Baptista was awful deal though. Bar the league cup 6-3 game where he score four against Liverpool. He looking like Yaya Sanogo with a decent shot lol. Also Just now rewatched the United Mike Riley game in 05 that’ just made me so angry again. I honestly can’t watch that reply without swearing. Really makes it worse Reyes is not with us for some reason as well. The Neville’s treatment of him was horrendous.
