January Transfer window thread

Bellerin to Dortmund? :henry2:

PEA would appease the living shit out of me even if there is a high likelihood that Wenger eventually destroys his confidence by playing him out of position and reduces him to a mediocre shit pile of a centre forward

Aside from the age concerns @Burgundy rightly brings up, not sure it’s a good fit…I don’t think you maximise Lacazette’s ability by playing him where Welbeck played yesterday, and I certainly don’t think you maximise PEA’s by playing him there. So what to do? Two strikers? Not sure either Lacazette or PEA has the playmaking quality for that to work…

PEA is a player that I’ve wanted for a long time and I certainly felt in summer he would have been a better fit than Lacazette. Having said that Laca has done well and he really has impressed me.

I’m not sure why people are so concerned over fitting both strikers into our team as they have very different play-styles, Auba and Laca could absolutely operate in front of Ozil and without Alexis being the only outlet our players ever seem to look for I feel Laca would actually be a lot more comfortable in a front 2/3 with Auba and Ozil.

For me Auba is one of the best strikers in the world and if this should happen I’d probably get over losing Alexis pretty fast, we have a massive rebuild to do in summer and having our attacking options stacked would allow us to focus on our absolutely dire midfield and defensive options. All in all this would be a huge step in the right direction for the club and would build a brilliant attacking foundation should a new manager step in.

Sounds like he definitely is leaving, looks like Dortmund are fed up with his shit

I can’t believe anyone is sticking their nose up at any of these names being bandied around to be honest.
Our stock has fallen pretty low, we’re lucky to still attract these names!

ā€œAuba? No thanks. Our team with the attacking threat of a tortoise is absolutely fine.ā€

This is why we don’t deserve nice things!

I don’t think it’s that people don’t want these players, it’s that they have seen it all before and know it’s very unlikely we’ll get them.

I would have any of Martial, Mkhitayran, Aubameyang, etc, but knowing they are only coming because it will be to replace, rather than to play with, the only two top quality players we have, takes the gloss of it a bit.

Also, we should have been buying these type of players long before this shambles happened.
If we had done, maybe we could have kept Sanchez and Ozil, and we would be challenging for the PL title rather than a Europa League place.

There are lots of players in world football. Just because we might prefer one name to another for perfectly valid reasons doesn’t mean ā€œwe don’t deserve nice thingsā€ā€¦

You especially do not deserve nice things :sunglasses:

getting PEA or selling Welbeck???

Pleaseeeeeeeeee!

Decision on Welbeck’s future will need to be made soon because of his contract situation, I don’t know how we can justify renewing him.

I don’t see Welbeck going abroad especially as there are a ton of English clubs that would take him.

These ITK’s reek of desperation.

wow, we are on a madness. It is almost as if someone from above has told Wenger, get rid of the dross and create a good team or we will fucking get rid of you. It seems like all of a sudden all the stubbornness has gone…sounds like he has been threatened. In previous seasons he would sit and gamble on these useless fuckers whilst getting 1 shit player on loan in Jan and see where we are. Maybe it isn’t only the fans getting fed up.

Seriously though imagine if you were Kroenke or Gazidis and you keep on saying Wenger is being backed etc and then nothing happens even if he has genuinely been told to spend and make us competitive. Imagine if it is you taking the fall constantly for Wenger I would be fucking embarrassed. Gazidis fair play to him has said time and time again we can afford anyone within reason and each time has to come to wengers rescue etc in those AGMs etc imagine having to swallow shit from everyone and thinking ā€˜if only these lot knew the truth I am being painted as a shyster and a fucking liar whilst this prick is fucking us over’

Ever since Gazidis has shifted places in Arsenal no one can disagree shit has been getting done, wengers cronies have all been shifted seems like we are after big signings we have a negotiator from Barca, and Sven and that fitness expert burgess etc. Maybe it is not us being shackled by the board but us being shackled by fucking Wenger and that it was him that was causing problems for the club and it is the BOARD that is being fucked over in general.

Arsenal have wasted no time in identifying possible replacements for Alexis Sanchez,

Whoever wrote that must be lying.
To use the words ā€œArsenal have wasted no time in identifying possible replacements,ā€ in relation to any of our transfer negotiations, or about us replacing one of our best players, means whoever the journalist is clearly doesn’t know what they are on about.

Gazidis is surely trying to prepare ourselves for life after Wenger. I guess he wanted him gone last summer as well.

I am not sure about Kroenke, instead. He struck me as someone who just doesn’t care.

Problem is this is twitter itk bullshit.

Wenger had several windows to do this why would he do it now?

I’ve fallen for the Arsenal doing big business in insert transfer window here too many times to fall for it again.

I’ll believe it when the players are holding up an Arsenal kit.
