Jack Wilshere

Sounds good, he definitely understands forwards-thinking attacking football very well, I don’t mind more of that. He might be good at coaching it.

That statement was too long for someone who done nothing their whole career.

Was one of the best 19 yr olds you’ve ever seen, but got run into the ground at that age and didn’t play a single game for a whole year after. Was never the same.

This feels pretty savage man haha. I’m here for it, don’t get me wrong.

Yeah I was thinking about that “I ain’t reading all that, I’m happy for you tho. Or sorry that it happened” meme for a sec  but I guess 20 years of a person’s life warrants one page of text maybe.

Bro, I would expect that statement from someone like Messi or Ronaldo. My man wrote a story considering he had a very average career lol.

If it were a long convoluted statement of his career, I had agree but After first page, he is simply thanking people in his personal circle.

He’s had plenty of time sitting around too perfect it.
Fucking Tolstoy effort.

Wilshere probably the most overrated young talent in Arsenal history. This guy was genuinely just someone who didn’t really have the intelligence to know when to release the ball nor the intelligence to try to adapt his style after years of injuries.

He had good ball retention ability but what did he actually have to his game outside of that?

Happy he’s seemingly more at peace with his decline though and retirement. Must have been tough.

For me I feel different , Rosicky and Cazorla were two players I loved and genuinely felt things could have been so different if they could have avoided injury, they were just so unlucky.
Wilshere didn’t have the intelligence to know that he shouldn’t have been pushing through the pain barrier.
Personally I feel Wilshere was no loss, it’s what it is with him.

Whether that was the case or not, in the end a talent was unrealised.

Your argument doesn’t suggest whether Wilshere wouldn’t have achieved what is anticipated if not for injuries.

With Rosicky & Cazorla, we lost the output but more or less we saw their peak. With Wilshere we shall never know

Mostly thanks to your mate Wenger running him into the ground at 19

Wilshere’s hole in the foot was genetic.

Stop be jealous that Wenger is mates with me. If you were less of a dick, Wenger may reply back to your DMs.

Wenger doesn’t take the bait.

Don’t think anyone could have predicted how significant that innocuous injury in that Emirates Cup game would be. Was pretty much the beginning of the end for his playing career before he even turned 20.

Such a waste. Sad plight from being one of the most talented youngsters we’ve seen at the club.

Needless to say, 2011 Wilshere still walks into most of the Arsenal teams we’ve put together since. Loved watching him at his best even if it was all too brief.

Still got to see glimpses of his quality here and there up until 2016/17. About as long as he could really stretch it at the top level, which given the injuries he did well to.

Past 4-5 years of his career has been a bit painful to follow tbh but respect the effort. Good decision to retire now. Hopefully has a good career in coaching and media.

People often forget Wilshere was player of the season ahead of Cesc, Persie & Nasri

I still recall those preseason matches when Wilshere was introduced as a winger. Although it was evident that he was not going to be a winger, he was still so fucking exciting of a prospect.

There was this one moment where he dribbles past players like Messi, chest the ball and fires in a volley onto the woodwork.
Can’t find that match but here’s him against Atletico Madrid.

Edit

Found it

Wasn’t a volley but a chip. Fucking audacity.

That was kinda my point really because we shall never know how good he could have been, alternatively he could have stayed injury free and not pushed on from his promise.
The way I see things “what could have been” doesn’t amount to much,it’s what you have achieved that matters.
But fair play to Jack if he’s happy.

5 out of 9, I’ll take it, as those were some tricky questions. A truly unique quiz as well, a series of questions about the career statistics three massive crocks, good work :+1:

On an aside, didnt Rio Turdinand go through his illustratrious career without ever playing in a Euros?
