Jack Grealish

This got a chuckle.

Tbf Villa’s owners had all the power, Grealish only signed a new long term contract last year which is up in 4 years, they could of easily just said nope and held on for another season or 2. Only thing that could of changed that is if Grealish handed in a transfer request, which as far as we know, hasn’t happened.

I can’t quite understand how this is the turning point for you. There has been 100m pound fotballers for quite some time now.

It’s more like, imo, that they seem surprised this would happen. Genuinely thought Grealish was going to play with these players. In my opinion it was quite obvious that City and Villa have an agreement for a while and Villa have been given time by city to sort out his replacement(s). You could see this coming from a mile.

These days I’d basically respect any player that hands in a transfer request. I’d have been mad back in the day, but now I’d see it as an upfront and honest way of going about it. But nobody ever does because then they’d have to forgo the loyalty bonuses that they can still get whilst manoeuvring their way out of a club in an underhanded fashion.

It would be football management malpractice for a team like Aston Villa right now. 100 million is simply too much to turn down.

Agreed but Grealish?
Really?

When you say they…I’m not about to go and find some reasonable Villa supporters but I’d be relatively confident there are plenty of them out there who, like the rest, of us saw this coming and aren’t at all peeved.

Grealish is talented and extremely marketable. Might even make city some of the money back off the pitch

Why would it ?
JG could become the clubs most iconic player , selling merch till the club runs out of stock but they would rather cash in on him .
Shame

Clubs make very little from merch it mostly goes to the sponsors.

Yes I’ve long been of the opinion if he made a move like this it won’t work out for him but it is what it is basically. Grealish costing 100m is a result of all that’s gone before, not the start of anything.

Taking Messi and Ronaldo out of the equation what current player is worth 100 million and both of those two aren’t the players they once were

You’re worth what someone is willing to pay tbh

It’s sadly a sick industry created by Ken Bates

Nobody is worth 100m. But that’s not the point, this is where the market is and has been for some time now.

Like you said, Grealish could have a broken leg in his first game for City… it could happen for him even if he stay… then 100m all gone for Villa.

This is a figure that no one would refuse, and they would only ask City to fuck off behind the doors
