I reckon it bothers Ian Wright that he doesn’t get enough recognition. He was a near complete striker who peaked sometime in the mid 90s and is now probably remembered more for his punditry and personality than being a high quality striker

Absolutely love Wrighty. Context is that Rashford got abuse when leaving the stadium the other night and said something along the lines of “say that to my face” to a fan. He then released a sort of apology statement to explain his actions but Wrighty is backing him

He’s not excusing the shit season he’s had though, that’s not what this is about.
Stand your ground in respect of the abuse you get from cunts who heckle you when you’re trying to go home.
If you think he should take abuse with a smile on his face and never react then you’re forgetting that he’s a bloke with normal reactions to things. He shouldn’t have to apologise to a fan who is a abusing him in the first place. That’s utter nonsense.

Agree with the general point but that doesn’t qualify as abuse to me
I’m sure much worse was said but not captured by the clip or it was edited out by the fan taking the video

At the end of the day, it’s a football match & you pay for the match, not any guarantee of a win.
The whole lining up outside stadium waiting for players to get into the bus alone sounds depressing, let alone indulge in heckling

Paying for a ticket to watch a football team play doesn’t give you a right to abuse another human being, what an utterly absurd viewpoint.
I suppose you wouldn’t have an issue with a customer abusing a barista if they made their coffee wrong?

Wrighty works on tv. His audience is football fans. He has made a huge fucking error here with words like fuck football fans.
Thats as fucking an absurd scenario as you could possibly draw tbh.
All I will say is it’s not the players fault the fans are paying so much, it’s the system.
I think a year or so ago Rashford would’ve just ignored it, he’s clearly not in the right place.
He said fuck them fans. Which is different and most people, who wouldn’t throw abuse about like the guy in the video, won’t feel like he was talking to/about them. Plenty of credit Wrighty for something like this to sully his rep for most.
If it purely about their performances or conduct then it totally allowed.
The comment that drew Rashford in was well within bounds anyways and if it tipped him over the edge then hes a soft twat.
Supporters are allowed to voice dissatisfaction directly.

Being called a “barista” when all you are is the person who makes the coffee in an overpriced chain of tax dodging hipster shops should be an ok for abuse.

Why has he even done it though. He works in tv. Could of used that as a platform.
Wrote articles in national newspapers in the past.
Got his own podcast for it. He chooses the middle of the street to start sounding off about something that’s come and gone.
Guess it does highlight age is no barrier for being stupid with a phone though.
