I thought it was a red in real time but the fact the VAR intervened is annoying since I thought we’d gotten away with it. Didn’t realize the VAR was a Liverpool supporter. Why he’d ever be handling matches for us is beyond me.

Why is he even there?
If he’s doing quality control why isn’t he in the VAR room or at pitch level with the 4th official.

I think we should. Is there a reason for him to be there? You’d think he’d have better things to do given the state of officiating in England.
Plus I always look at it as an optics issue. Does it look good if the guy in charge of officiating is at a match being filmed with an earpiece in? I don’t think it looks good even if there’s a reasonable explanation for it. PGMOL have negative credibility at this point, why even run the risk of having more conspiracy theories pop up?
So whats the stance here, the head of the refs association cant go to any football games?

I think it’s more deeming it not a red in that scenario but then deeming it a red in ours because we actually matter.
Either way same guy make 2 diff calls is not just incompetence, even if I agree with today’s red.

England manager is a completely different kettle of fish imo. They’d be there to watch and evaluate players to call into camp.
