Of course they will protect the ref if they have the slightest chance. Not surprised.
We all know in reality it’s a bullshit decision and no way it will be punished the same way for the rest of the season (it wasn’t in the same game lol).
Still, even technically it can hardly be the right decision since Veltman didn’t have the required conditions to do the free kick (the ball was rolling free).
If you still try to support this and you have to punish every nudge of the the ball while the free kick is not taking place you would have 20 cards every game.
What do they think about Veltman kicking Rice though? He going for the ball surely.
Quite the opposite. City players can assault Arsenal players under a referee’s nose and nothing is done about it.
We’ll see it again in a few weeks.
The more I see that Rice decision, the more appalling it gets.
It makes me sick when the PGMOL say it was the rule and Kavangh didn’t have a choice. It’s factually incorrect. Referees do have freedom to apply context to every situation, he saw what he wanted to see and decided to be the star of the show, or took money to do it.
We don’t need a news article quoting Pierluigi Collina on this incident, he will have been horrified. The guy was above making decisions that made no sense. I read his book several times and it made me a better official.
Bullshit tweet, Everton have got 15 red cards, and I’m not even going to count the rest on the official Premier league site.
Every club fan thinks there is a conspiracy against them
The main issue for me now isn’t whether they have a vendetta against us or not, but it’s rather that most of these clowns are incompetent as shit. Along with some of the stupid rules which need changing, like, not being able to contest yellows which result into a fking red card.
It usually feels like they are treading lightly after each controversial decision involving any particular club, certainly seemed that way for Arsenal of late. I hope I’m right and that the officials in charge of our next few league matches are directed to avoid shitstorms at all costs.
I’m not a believer of the “these things even themselves out” sentiment but maybe if we get a soft penalty at Man City or Spurs, I may be persuaded to change my position.
There’s no vendetta, but this for me remains the case. Same old Arsenal, always cheating rings out at every PL away ground and somewhere along the line, the mud sticks.
