You don’t eat as much because they’re slow release and they fill you. Low glycemic diet work for those that struggle to cut weight because of this. It’s why slimming world works for people that struggle to lose weight. They don’t restrict carbs, they just get people eating the right types of carbs, alongside veg/protein and it works for most people.
Where as bread type products can be digested quickly and mean you’re hungrier sooner. So someone who struggles to control snacking, will usually eat sooner
Mate I could have 8 bowls of 100g oats a day without any problem. So I’d be consuming an unreasonable (roughly 500g) amount of carbs for someone of my height, weight and metabolism and guess what? If I do it long enough I’ll spill over and gain fat.
What you said was misleading.
You cannot and should never perpetuate the myth that carbs don’t turn to fat just because it’s a slow release one.
What you actually mean is eating slower release carbs keep you fuller for longer so it can help to prevent over eating which means you’re unlikely to over consume carbs therefore lessening the chance of you gaining fat.
Oats are higher glycemic than lentils so it’d be easier to overload your carbs. Yes in theory you could eat enough lentils to get fat but in reality I doubt anyone has ever got fat on a lentil soup diet and most will lose significant amounts of weight.
Calorie density of foods matter as does the glycemic index. So the more high nutrient, low calorie density you eat the easier it is to underload carbs and not feel the effect. If you got all your carbs from glucose you’d struggle to only maintain the carb intake you’re currently getting because you wouldn’t get a steady blood sugar level and you’d feel like shit.
So cutting other types of carbs and replacing them with lentil, is an easier way to manage you blood sugar levels.
Also diets like keto, where you’re essentially putting your body through a period of starvation in the long term will see the person gain weight after because mentally humans are wired to gauge on food. It’s important to find a low callery diet that doesn’t feel
Obviously you get results by weighing specific amounts of food. Not every is as dedicated as yourself though. And not everyone has as much muscle mass, which makes reducing fat easier.
I think @shamrockgooner can attest to diets such as slimming world work without counting calories. That whole diet is designed around low glycemic, low calorie density meals.
Yes mate. The last two weeks I’ve probably only managed 30k or so but that’s got more to do with how busy work got than anything.btaking today off after an incredibly intense 10 days but planning 12k or maybe a little more tomorrow
Good to hear. I can only manage 5ks now due to injuries.
Obviously have to sack the gym now but will supplement that with Skipping and rowing machine during all this.
Basically I’m just doing workout for a 56 year old bloke. Nothing like some on here but can’t let the lift you get off it go.
Well in @DavidHillier.
I’m a DW Fitness member that’s moving all their classes to online virtual ones. I will join them this week, pretty intrigued.
Also one of the PTs has become a pal of mine and speaking to him yesterday it sounds like he’s madly feeling the pinch already for the past 4 weeks. Quite saddening. After yesterday’s announcement he’s now offering to drive to client’s residences to take classes so I said I’d take him up on 6 sessions to help him out.
