Tbf bro, it’s one of the toughest issues I have too.
Most social things amongst friends and colleagues involve a drink and having a shandy/soft drink is not exactly gonna go down well amongst mates haha. Even so, it’s no fun to be the only one not boozing while everyone else is.
My only way of doing it is to actually cut my social life out for a few weeks while I smash my head down and get into shape. It’s not the happy medium I can suggest but it’s the only way I can prioritise my body when it needs it
I could suggest going to the gym with a friend etc. but for me personally going to the gym is my ‘me time’ which I enjoy.
I’ve been on a normal healthy diet but doing lots of fasted cardio, and I’m already down like 3kg from my January high of 74.4kg. Pretty happy with the results.
Now my girlfriend is trying to lose weight but she doesn’t do any exercise and her mum has convinced her to do a keto no carb diet and now I’m being forced into it and 2 days into it it is fucking miserable and so complicated because literally everything has carbs in it.
Yesterday for lunch I went to Waitrose and got a little bag of mixed mini cheeses, some octopus slices, ham slices and chicken slices because those were the only thing in the whole supermarket without carbs in them. Even the salads without any discernible carbs in them, had carbs in them!!!
I can only eat so much meat and cheese ffs
Is it actually worth committing to keto or should I bail?
My highest ever was 77kg 8 years ago when I was basically on a GOMAD/bulking diet.
My normal weight should be 66-68kg, and I’m aiming to get back to 66ish.
In the last year and a half since moving to London from Bath my weight ballooned from 67kg to 74kg because of stress, drinking, not having time for the gym etc.
Seriously though i think diets that ban (as opposed to limit) foods just aren’t good. Best weight loss results I ever had was doing slimming world and eating pasta and rice etc as much as I wanted.
Don’t waste your time with keto diets. At my most lean (less than 10% body fat) I’d still be consuming a reasonable amount of carbs. The only time I imagine keto becomes a thing is when I’m about 2 weeks from a show and even then it’s not necessary.
I’ve got clients who are losing weight weekly under my meal plans who still consume a good amount of carbs.
I genuinely think keto diet is a specialist diet you use when preparing for something extreme like a photo shoot or a bodybuilding show and you need to get even leaner with a few weeks out.
Carbs fuel you, without them you’re lethargic and miserable.
I’m 5’8” (175cm~) so not a big guy by any measure. When I finally get rid of the stomach, I would then look to start honing my physique more and gain some weight.
I carry the majority of my excess weight on my stomach which leads to some insecurities and why I’m trying hard to lose it.
Im with you man. A lot of it is just not having time due to work but there’s definitely laziness involved as well haha
She is getting better though! She’s started coming to the gym with me now about 2-3 times a week (I go around 5-6 times a week). We’re getting there! She doesn’t need much of an excuse to bail though haha
Haha i think my response was also the way it was because my misses is the same, goes on extreme diets for 6-8 weeks but it’s rarely sustainable. So you drop weight rather quickly but then just put it back on when you get sick of it.
My weight just hovers around 72-73 KG and I’m around 6 foot, I eat relatively normally don’t restrict on main meals, but I do rarely snack. I’m lucky my job is pretty active but I also do a fair bit of cardio in my own time.
We are office working men so the work pressure and stress will always make us gain weight and back.
Better have your wardrobe modified to accommodate for those days.
It sucks to notice a shirt you could tuck in is now too tight around your belly.
