Kane rejecting Bayern is definitely a poor choice but perhaps he is convinced he can get a move to United this summer, or Chelsea.
If he ends up staying at Spurs again, he would basically be announcing to the world that he doesn’t mind not winning anything in his career. Lack of ambition?? Maybe, but he’s Spurs through and through, lacking ambition is their thing.
Him staying will also mean Levy is smarter than all Spurs fans put together cause he would have managed to hold on to the best English player in the last decade without winning anything.
If Kane turns down Madrid and the chance to be a key man in the new amazing team they are building, it will cement his reputation as an unambitious loser.
I think he basically has to go. Levy will extract a big fee but beyond Kane signing a new deal selling to a club like Madrid is his next best scenario. He’s going to do it for the right price.
With Benzema going to Saudi, can’t help but think Madrid will come for Kane with intent this summer. And I think Kane will be willing as well. When he weighs the Shearer record with the chance to win trophies with Madrid, he may prefer the latter.
It will be very interesting to see what happens here. I can’t see Levy wanting to sell and he will want to try to pursuade Kane to sign another contract. If it starts to become clear that he won’t sign a new deal and makes it clear he wants to leave, there is a chance Levy will agree to sell him.
Real Madrid’s interest is excellent though, as I’m sure Spurs would much prefer to sell to Madrid rather than Utd. We want to see Kane gone from Spurs, but we don’t want him at Utd who need a striker. The ideal situation is that Utd and Real make Kane their No.1 target, and this transfer saga goes on most of the summer, but ultimately Real Madrid win the race.
If Real Madrid sign him, this also opens up a very exciting possibility next summer of Mbappe. He has long be linked to Real Madrid, and will be a free agent next summer if he sees out his contract at PSG. This is a huge leap, but if we were to strengthen considerably over the summer and have another very strong season, we could offer him a very interesting opportunity to join us.
It’s not Spurs, it’s Levy and co. and I think he’ll choose to do business with whichever club offers him more. So I won’t rule out anything at this point, other than the fact that Spurs are screwed.
Even if we go on to win the league next season, and do rather well in the CL, I don’t see him wanting us and vice versa. And do we really want a player like him here? He’s so full of himself, he couldn’t care less about the team, or what they achieve, as long as his wishes are fulfilled. Mikel’s worked hard on building this team spirit and harmony. Mbappe is the last player we want.
If Kane turns down Real Madrid to beat Shearer’s record then I never want to hear him discussed among the greats. Never truly pushed himself or challenged
This was a chat at work today. Mind you, the people involved weren’t big football fans but they naturally like Kane because he’s the captain of the national team.
I pretty much called him a loser if he doesn’t move to Madrid and surprisingly someone answered back saying “I remember you saying you Totti, is he a loser too?”.
Was kinda caught off guard with that and I’m not sure I made a good case for Totti, they certainly weren’t having any it.
If the reason he wants to stay at spurs is to break Shearer’s record, then he’s an idiot.
People remember great strikers ,not for the amount of goals, but how they’re scored and for the trophies they’ve won.
As good as he was, no one says Shearer is a better striker than Henry, Ronaldo, Aguero or Drogba and Kane will fall into the same bracket.
But it would be funny if Kane does get past Shearer’s total, without any trophies, and then then has to watch Haaland overtake him.
