Granit Xhaka

Would be silly to sell him now.

I appreciate the club won’t stand in his way if the right offer comes in but I think he deserves to play in the CL next season with us and have another go at a trophy.

Would he be the only successful StatDNA signing? Albeit successful after almost a decade of figuring out how to use him across three different coaches.

Xhaka has certainly had his best season with us but seems to be putting in more effort since being surrounded by better players.

So what was he doing in all the previous seasons since Wenger bought him?
This makes him more of a follower than a leader.

Players like Xhaka are fine as squad rotation but when he is upgraded to someone like Rice, as a first team regular, there will be a noticeable difference in our performances.

It took him a long time to make this turnaround, it’d be counterproductive to let him go now, he’s reached that level of maturity and awareness that was lacking before, Xhaka from the bench is a valuable asset.

Would be very stupid to sell him now.

Even hoing we’ll upgrade with someone better in our starting XI he would still have massive value for the squad considering he know what Arteta wants 100% and can feliver in every part of the season whenever you need him.
Also he’s one of the main leaders… Would be very hard to find a better squad player than him.

Don’t want him to leave but if it means we sign Rice and Caicedo then it’s a sacrifice worth making. As a post said earlier, he could definitely leave with his head held high after the last few years.

Your going into your next phase now. If that’s the case Arteta has and will I feel be pragmatic enough too make the right decision.
Sentiment and bending arguments to accommodate are not part of the deal. We seen too much of that in the past.
If its what needs doing for upgrades we make the decision.

Do we still want Diaby? Maybe we can work Xhaka into the deal…

Wouldn’t mind Xhaka staying another year though.

Would be a hasty decision to sell. This side lacks trusted depth. Say we sign Rice or Caicedo, why go back to square one on depth by booting Xhaka out and be left with just Vieira on the bench? The manager has minimal incentive to make changes currently and very little squad options. If he has Xhaka he can actually rotate without any big drop off. Keeps the midfield fresh for the fixture load.

He’s going too be a starter at Leverkusen. He won’t be here.
Pretty sure that will be spelt out too him. Career wise for him it makes sense to move.
His style is more suited for the continent and more so as he ages.
Probably gets another 2 international tournaments as well playing in that League.

I expect Xhaka to go to Italy and play there for another 7 or 8 years.

Would be a huge mistake to sell him, he’s ingrained in this squad and would be first backup in the middle if we sign one CM.

We have to improve the quality of our backups not sign a new starter and sell the old one.

4 comps, need to push harder in all without rotating as much in Europe. Would not even entertain the idea of selling anyone from the first XI or the best subs e.g trossard, Tomiyasu, Kiwior.

Tierney is an exception as I think he wants the move and money wise it may make sense if we get a big offer.

Only issue with Tiereny leaving is we’ll need a starting LB to come in because it’s becoming more apparent that Zinchenko is a bit of a defensive liability.

I think we should renew him as the starter and sign a third left back. Zini can cover LB and CDM.

Could easily see him back here at some point.

Fascinating, so Leverkusen tried to get him twice, the last time was last summer.

Their reported interest now is for next summer when his deal is up. Interesting to see if the club take up their option to extend so we can get a fee on him.

He’s had a good season and it’s time to cash in. He’s only gonna drop in value after the summer. Rice should be priority and tielemans could be free(!). We could easily add another name if the right talent was available. Lavia is only 19 - ā€˜buy and loan straight back’ may be worth considering with Southampton. Then in emergency, or January before run in, bring him back to add legs.

I could defo get behind a Diaby / Xhaka swap deal. 3rd position on my wishlist and in an area I think we need to strengthen in the summer.

I like the look of Diaby, but also still like the idea of a Raphinha deal and adding another Brazilian to the team (plus PL proven).

However, I would defo support selling Xhaka this season. His value will never be higher and his position. If there is a deal to be done, we should do it. It will also offset the cost of a Declan Rice deal too…

As the most senior on the team, I think he deserves to have a say to stay or leave.

He stay or not, is one thing.
I dont want to hear we are giving up such and such tourney/league to reserve our players on sunch and such tourney/league because we do not have enough players, or not enough trust worthy/experienced players.
