Half a decade it’s taken him as @Cristo saidnto look good. And that’s fine if he’s playing well now and he did at times last season too he can absolutely be praised for that.
He’s genuinely been shit for the vast majority of his time here to the point where his best performance was when we got a 6.5 out of him and his lack of athleticism only let him down once or twice in a game.
Right now he’s being playing in a role that genuinely compliments his skill set. His reliable injury record says to me as well that we know we’ll get another 35-38 league games from him too.
He’s absolutely replaceable and probably in the top 3 most replaceable guys in the squad but I’m absolutely fine if we go into the season with him maintaining his current position. It almost feels like Arteta has been preparing Xhaka for everything that he’s doing now for the last 2.5 years.
Great performance yesterday. His start to the season has made me happy fans I have no complaints if we don’t have replace him now as I still think our forward line needs a new attacker more than anything else.
If I rank the worst three performing players from the opening two competitive games it’s Saka, Odegaard and Ramsdale for me. We’ve got a Vieira for Odegaard but we don’t have one to replace Saka unless Vieira is being brought in to do that.
And Ramsdale back up is apparently terrible so I’d want to see that addressed too.
But I definitely feel more at ease with him now and it’s just a shame we had to deal with 4 years of average and way below average performance to get here but it just shows the system means more than any of the other factors.
I watched his episode of All or Nothing yesterday. I laughed out loud over his Jota one just as much as I did the first time. I completely forgot it was coming.
I meant it jokingly but you’re the only person on OA willing to die on a hill defending three players that have been seriously sub-par for the majority of their time at arsenal haha
I definitely do not fancy Bellerin. He is so far from my ideal guy it’s ridiculous.
Xhaka is alright. I probably would. And yeah, Giroud I definitely would.
Giroud is the only one of the three who probably does get an extra point for his looks.
I know people think I am trolling over Xhaka. I’m really not. I think everyone going so hard on him has made me defend him more, but I do genuinely believe he is decent and no where near as bad as is made out on here.
That just makes you a prick. You are deliberately making me waste my precious time in order to defend him when I need not. You have cost me a Pitch Perfect or Grease rewatch.
