Fans are the biggest idiots of all though because they’re actually paying for this shit while Emery and Xnobhead are getting paid millions to dish up this crap.
I was at the Emirates today, as I am for every home match, and I booed Xhaka…not because he was awful today…he didn’t do anything particularly wrong…but it was a tactical decision to take him off from the manager, it was 2-2 and we needed a goal to win the game…in response Xhaka’s behaviour in firstly throwing his captains armband on the floor and secondly slowly trudging off the pitch was a fucking disgrace! In response, not only did he refuse to run off the pitch, he started gesturing to the fans and I am told he was heard telling fans to fuck off as he walked off down the tunnel taking his shirt off as he went.
I don’t care whoever the fucking player is, but if you behave like that in front of your own fans, you deserve every bit of criticism coming your way. Xhaka is a disgrace to the club, a disgrace to his fellow players and isn’t fit to wear the shirt IMO, let alone be club captain. The relationship between the player and the fans is now toxic and there is only one way to resolve it which is to force this low life out of the club in January or next summer.
I pay a lot of money to go to the Emirates. I went all the way to Baku in the summer to support Arsenal, so I absolutely defend any fans right to slate a player…today Xhaka deserved every boo and every bit of criticism. Xhaka and NOT the fans is a fucking disgrace and needs to go!
My comment was 99% tongue in cheek and I meant it more in a “the fans are the ones paying for this but getting fuck all in return sort of way”.
and yes, I agree with you. He absolutely did tell the fans to fuck off. TWICE. He should have ran off the pitch too, having been 2-0 up and drawing. Disgraceful behaviour.
P.S. I’d have booed the twat too if I were there.
James can get off his high horse imo. How else are fans supposed to display their displeasure with the manager? Jeering or booing is well within their rights as long as it doesn’t turn into making comments about his kids or racist chanting.
I don’t blame the fans either but somebody has got to get a grip of the club.
We’ve got a situation with Mustafi. Regardless of some singing for Ozil they’ll be plenty read to get on his case. Where simply fractured and the board have to get control of the club.
Where heading for being tabloid press fodder here.
Someone needs to go rochambeau Ivan. At least I would feel a tiny bit better.
not tabloid press fodder without the classic broken cannons !
They do this to everyone don’t they. Shiver pool a favourite.
There’s no question that he reacted terribly and what he did was a disgrace, but was it not the fans cheering sarcastically that set him off in the first place? I can understand as a professional why that kind of disrespect would really get under your skin.
It just doesn’t sit well with me to treat one of your players that way, no matter who it is. It creates a big issue for no reason at all and it didn’t have to happen.
That being said, I’m not paying good money to go to the stadium and people there are entitled to do what they want.
So the fans cheered his substitution, big deal. How else can the fans in the ground convey their displeasure with his continued selection?
I don’t ever want to hear another word from him about being a leader because a real leader runs off the field when he gets subbed because there was still time left in the match instead of throwing a tantrum like a big baby. He was finished at Arsenal before this but there’s no way he should be allowed to remain captain.
EDIT: I’m aware that booing is a very unique taboo in soccer culture, and especially English soccer culture. It’s definitely not taboo in American sports to take a shot at your own players. Philadelphia fans are famous for it.

Yeah obviously it stems from the anger towards the manager that he’s become undroppable, but I just think at 2-2 when we need some positivity, we don’t need to be starting an issue with a guy who’s coming off the pitch anyway.
The main culprits in all of this aren’t the fans obviously, but I just think the blatant cheering when he’s coming off is silly, particularly when he didn’t even have a bad match.
Fair play but I (and apparently a lot of folks at the Emirates) were past the point of no return and even if we had a chance to win the match folks wanted to let the coach know he goofed the team selection again and not to pick that joker next weekend.
Yeah Emery has made a complete mess of it with Xhaka, both the continued selection and the inexplicable decision to make him captain.
I also cannot believe that we’re basically going to force Torreira out of the club over this…Why on earth would he want to stay past this season?
Very true. I talked a lot of shit this summer on Twitter when Milan apparently bid for Lucas about how he’d never leave and they’re shit but I feel like a fool now.
It’s confounding to me that the club would tell Milan to take a hike and allow Unai to sideline Lucas in favor of a guy who can’t hack it at this level.
Based on the rumours, he would consider leaving independent of what is going on the pitch just due to the fact that he doesn’t love living in England, so the fact that he isn’t even playing now on top of that is a major concern.
Hopefully this episode with Xhaka means Torreira gets more time now.

I could understand that. I loved living and working in London but the weather really messed with my depression. Not suggesting Lucas has mental health issues btw, he may just prefer a sunnier city.
JFC he’s a man, he’s a professional, I used to get booed when I played High School soccer it should never get to you as a player, and especially as a professional at the top level And from a Captain. The mental strength has to be better, you have to use it as motivation not as an excuse.
Well said sir.
For me, if it’s okay to cheer a player, (sing songs for a player, hero worship a player ) then it’s completely fine to boo them as well especially someone who has been stinking the place around ever since their arrival.
Similarly Xhaka also have the right to react the way he did.

Nope. He’s supposed to be the captain. Unless he’s being racially abused or his family being involved, not acceptable for him to tell the fans to fuck off.
