Yes the nannystateism is one of the worse features of British politics.

Health advisories are good but pointless arbitrary gestures are not effective

Did you disagree with the banning of cigarette advertising?

Or was that ā€œnanny stateā€ as well?

Because you’re not being stopped from drinking, just like you’re not stopped from smoking.

So my comment above was a tongue in cheek reference to The Thick of It. I generally get fed up of people who say state regulation is red tape or an example of the ā€˜Nanny State’. Bad attempt at being sarcastic!

I actually supported the ban of cigarette advertising, but like others, I’m struggling here with the point of this…If I go to a pub or bar, and I’m drinking, I’ll likely order a beer and would have made that decision based on the decision to go to the pub/bar, rather than the advertising on the glasses.

Sturgeon’s SNP so shit at running this country.

While they’re at it they may as well ban car logos from cars in an effort to reduce car accidents

They are looking at all alcohol advertising. The logos on the glasses is just the low hanging fruit to get people annoyed.

And it’s working

The government should be looking into suspending liquor licenses for pubs that serve alcoholic beverages that don’t correspond to the branding on the glass. Even stronger penalties if serving bitter or lager in a Guinness glass.

Back in my student days, I used to steal those big hefty Hoegaaden glasses from the pub.

What do you mean? Why do you think that any element of this is designed to purposely annoy people, why would the Scottish government want to do that?

Besides, people seem far more bemused than they are annoyed.

I was referring to the article.

Noncery seems to get quite lenient punishments no matter what.

The ones making judgments are probably diddlers themselves.

There are plenty of nonces in UK prisons who would definitely disagree.

My guess is the images weren’t as bad as it was being made out. Probably some fan-made anime pictures, which are notorious for sexualising young people.

Anime can be fucking gross. You can google image stuff that, at least in my opinion, is borderline criminal.

ā€œoh, it’s just their cultureā€ ā€œyou don’t understandā€

Piss off you closet paedo

Interesting. Probably a good thing in relation to reducing emissions. Remains to be seen whether there are issues with battery waste and possible conflicts over the required lithium.

Not sure what the sentencing guidelines on these three charges are. @Joshua ? It’s in the SNYC/Manhatten jurisdiction I believe.

  1. Racketeering conspiracy

  2. Sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion

  3. Transportation to engage in prostitution

Also there is apparently a part of the indictment which claims he had cocaine, oxycodone and ketamine, with an intent to supply/distribute. But that isn’t one of the charges.
