I think you’re being unhinged now about this now. Do you think that people can just go around and do whatever they want without any consequences?
You’ve been asked a very simple question, how long should someone spend in prison for this offence? As you’ve clearly suggested should happen. For whatever reason you’re trying to evade answering. Possibly because nobody has supported the ridiculous consequences you’ve put forward in the past.
So I’ll ask you again, how long are you suggesting is an appropriate prison sentence for throwing orange powder on Stonehenge. Feel free to give a range.
I don’t think people should be able to go around doing whatever they want with no consequences. I do think people should be able to go around not voting without consequences though
It isn’t for me to determine. This is determined by the Court based on the offence and the sentencing guidelines. I don’t know what these are but the appropriate punishment should be handed out.
For my “2 cents”, as big a fine as currently permissable by the judiciary and as long a prison term as currently permissible by the judiciary.
Separately, why do JSO & co not make their way to some of the biggest contributors of emmissions who are not interesed in reducing their contribution like China and Russia and see how far their stunts get them? They rather exploit the freedoms afforded to the public in the UK to negatively impact on the general public who largely sympathise with their cause…
They like to attack cultural symbols, they’re kinda retarded cunts tbh. But I’m not even sure what would be sufficient punishment for this. Maybe having your name associated with JSO in the first place is punishment enough?
That’s gross. And fwiw I didn’t kiss the Wall when I lived in Jerusalem.
Just a dry hump?
There’s a man with some wipes and spray, chill bro.
And yet you’re happy to prescribe ruinous fines, a criminal record and an indeterminate prison sentence for people guilty of something that isn’t even an offence if they don’t vote. Absolutely bizarre.
It makes me cringe to remember all those times as a kid I drank out of public fountains at school or the park. What was I thinking?
Ah well that’s a different story. I think having kids has made me less likely to touch anything communal. You would have thought it would have been living through COVID, but it wasn’t.
@Persona the J just installed a bottle filler station next to the rusted out water fountain. Total game changer.
You’re all arguing about a bunch of stones
The ritual of kissing the Blarney Stone, according to the castle’s proprietors, has been performed by “millions of people”, including “world statesmen, literary giants [and] legends of the silver screen”.[8] The kiss, however, is not casually achieved. To touch the stone with one’s lips, the participant must ascend to the castle’s peak, then lean over backwards on the parapet’s edge. This is traditionally achieved with the help of an assistant. Although the parapet is now fitted with wrought-iron guide rails and protective crossbars, the ritual can still trigger attacks of acrophobia.
Goddamn @shamrockgooner , this sounds terrifying. I thought it was more like when they do a procession of a Torah through a shul. (It’s extremely slow and people line up to kiss the cover)
Don’t misrepresent what I said. I argued that voting in the UK should be compulsory with ‘none of the above’ added as an option on the ballot paper, and for fines to be handed out to people who did not vote and were not able to provide a reasoned justification why they did not do so…you became fixated on the amount of the fine, but as I think I said previously, the evidence from Australia is that a low fine is sufficient and achieves the desired result of high turnouts at elections. People are generally compliant with things like this if introduced.
Nsh it’s grand. Not that i did the kissing bit but there was people in their 80s doing it when i was there.
I’ve kissed it! You have to manoeuvre yourself into position first before puckering up.
It is still a slutty stone though…
Nothing was misrepresented. You said fines of £500 for not voting, with the amount to increase for repeat “offences” with prison sentences being appropriate if did not compel someone to comply.
And I think it’s perfectly fine to highlight such a ridiculous suggestion.
In the same way it’s fair to know what similarly ridiculous penalties you might impose in this situation.
I wish it did the opposite effect i know loads of people who said they have kissed it and I wish they’d shut the fuck up
