Jordan Peterson pushed a variety of right wing grifts, his specialty being the old “clean your room” self help hustle. That’s ironic given the state of his personal life in recent years.

There’s a parallel between him and the institutions that right-wingers will argue are being hypocritical. The guy is about the money.

I mean the title is misleading he doesn’t say he admires Hitler per se but his organisational skills. He uses the Nazis as an example of the hive mind and group thinking that’s happening today a lot, and he’s right to do so. The guy has been a clinical psychologist for most of his life and sat down with thousands of people, Most people act like if they lived in Nazi Germany they couldn’t of become a Nazi, (regardless of wether they believed in the ideology or not) and that they would be the 1 in 100 people who would resist and fight nazism. I think his example is correct lots of people would probably do a lot worse if they had Hitlers skills and could some how become un opposed dictators.

Also @KITN what’s wrong the “clean your room” self help philosophy bro? He’s right majority of SJWs are jobless losers who can’t get their own lives in order but are trying to “fix” the world, blaming everything but themselves for their current situation.

Guy’s wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer and he was prescribed meds, to help him cope with the stress of that and the constant abuse and attacks he was receiving. Regardless though, good advice is good advice no?

It was actually this Gopal woman who got Peterson uninvited I think. I mentioned her and those comments she made a while back, I think she’s just someone desperate for clicks and likes and wants to be famous.

If she wanted to say “abolish white supremacy” all she needed to do was tweet “abolish white supremacy” lol.

She’s full of shit and what she said was profoundly racist and it comes from this weird desire some people have to act like being white is racist and that all white people should feel guilty for being white lmao.

Some people are just fucking stupid.

Context is context. His personal responsibility rhetoric is fine if it existed alone in a vacuum–which it doesn’t. He uses it to introduce other ideas that aren’t so benign like Hitler was highly organized therefore we’re all capable of being Nazi’s therefore Nazi Germany was no big deal. It’s common in anyone who is highly trained in one field but has a huge blind spot everywhere else.

Just because he’s a clinical psychologist doesn’t mean he’s capable of deep socio-political analysis. You don’t see political scientists making broad generalizations about clinical psychology the same way Peterson does about politics and sociology. It’s not his field of expertise but he’s the right’s foremost intellectual champion.

But he’s not saying that at all though, and I don’t think he’s ever said the Holocaust “was no big deal” or anything similar to that. In fact to me he’s saying the opposite, not only was it a big deal but to prevent those types of atrocities from happening again we have to learn from our past, and see history from the view of the perpetrators. To me what he is saying is correct, we all have it in us to be the “Nazis” and we all have it in us to be “Schindler”, but we can not be Schindler if we do not understand that we can also be the “nazis”. We all think that if we lived in 1800s US we would all be abolitionists or fighters of freedom if we lived in communist Russia, truth is we wouldn’t and data backs that up, wether we would be ideologues or people just trying to get by is a different argument. But he is correct in saying that we all have the capability of being monsters given the opportunity to do so.

I’m no psychologist, but in my personal life experience from family, life in one of the poorer parts of this country and from my work experience abroad in the Middle East and north Africa, I agree with him. You may have different kinds experiences and thus his arguments fall flat to you, but to me what he says makes perfect sense. Agree to disagree bro.

@BizzySignal we can’t agree to disagree on misinformation. Looks like all the outrage was initially based on fake tweets circulated among right wingers that then got picked up by the Daily Mail. This goes to show the willingness of right wingers to run with whatever furthers their racist, bigoted agenda.

“How is this not racism” has always been a bad faith argument. If you espouse that notion you never cared about racism to begin with

The tweets were real and as per that screenshot above. Looks like the DM left some of it out and threw in a crazy accusation to boot so had to apologise and cough up.

I meant in regards to Jordan Peterson, not the tweets. Like @shamrockgooner was saying the tweets were real. My point wasn’t what she said, she can be as racist as she wants if that’s what she wants, it’s stupid and ridiculous but she should be treated the same way as someone who is white and perceived to have made racist comments. Has nothing to do with right wing politics, just some weird double standard.

I would be willing to bet that if I tweeted some dumbshit like “white people come out the womb racist, we need to remove whiteness and tear down the white male patriarchy” I wouldn’t face any kind of backlash for what is obviously not only a racist comment but also totally ludicrous and false. I know that I would get a shit tonne of likes and if Twitter tried to give me a temporary ban, I could act like they were racist and would have hundreds of people supporting me. Would probably even been seen as brave.

However if any one else here who is white where to say something which isn’t even as racist as that, they would get a shit tonne of hate, abuse, possible perma ban and maybe even have their job on the line and future employment possibilities put in jeopardy.

Can someone give me some insight into what politicians like Ted Cruz and Scott Morrison are thinking when they go on holiday during catastrophic circumstances for their constituents?

Like how fucking stupid can they be?

Cruz is quite “self aware” politically speaking, His wants more political power so he’s usually very careful and calculating with what he says and what does generally.

His cuncun trip is a big error even if it was planned ages ago, it a very bad looks when Beto is on the ground organising relief and support for vulnerable groups in the middle of pandemic

haha i didn’t even clock that. good disguise tbf, ‘nobody will call me right-wing if your name is lenin or Marx’ :arteta:

That’s one of the fake tweets you conveniently left out. The screenshots you put up are provocative but are only racist in the minds of people who already lean that way. She extrapolated on the dumb tweets, which are dumb at worst. Ask me and I’ll tell you why she’s right.

You talk about double standards but I don’t see you up in arms over the institutional racism people of color experience daily. You’re just offended by the optics here, which conveniently distract from the reality she unskillfully attempted to relay.

I didn’t leave out anything bro, that’s the tweet I came across and shared it. I don’t have Twitter. Also how are those tweets only racist in the minds of those who lean that way? :joy: @SRCJJ put it best if she wants to fight white supremacy then just say “abolish white supremacy”.

Also as a person of colour, I haven’t personally been subject to any kind of institutional racism here in the UK, I can’t speak for others who may have, but then it’s their job to speak up about it, I can’t speak about something that hasn’t happened to me, I haven’t been discriminated against at school, college, when going to shops, for employment or even by police officers even when I was youngster like clearly illegally driving without a license or insurance as a 16 year old, didn’t even get a producer or have the car confiscated just told to go home and not do it again or at any other point that I can personally remember. So not sure what you want me to be up in arms about.

:joy: to be fair it was only around the estate, my house was like 2 minutes away, comes off like I was cruising on the m40 though :joy::rofl:

I did it for years mate but would be shitting it when I saw police cars or going on motorways. They didn’t really crack down on it until 2007 IIRC and then they were seizing all the cars then. But I’d buy cars, like once a £100 Honda Legends and not give a fuck. If you’re in a car that’s significantly higher you start to shit all the more lol. I had a couple of chaces off the police in higher value cars.

Once I stopped when it was my giveway and I’m an Audi S6, they were meant to give way to me right, it was my right of way. 2 cars made me give way to them. I was like ‘if the third one comes out I’m beeping him’. So he does cut me up and I do beep him before realising it’s a fucking cop car. So he does a U-turn as I’m driving along knowing he’s in the wrong and hoping he doesn’t react. And then the blue lights come on and he speeds up and I pretend not to notice slightly speeding up. Obviously shitting it at this stage. Then I take a left on the roundabout, flooring it and taking left, right, left turns through an estate. Reckless as fuck and glad no one get hurt. I then park up and leg it. But I’d lost them by that stage. I was surprised they didn’t go after me under the DVLA but I suppose they were too busy to bother

I’m finally getting motoring on Witcher 3 btw. Leveling and character building becomes addictive after a bit so I’m glad i couldn’t get the levelling mod to work
